Re: Command "Pad"
MMkay I've played a few rounds as commander on the iPad app. If you're a fan of old school RTS games but have lamented the lack of good tablet ports, your pain here will continue. This is a watered-down version of BF4 with limited functionality. Everything is reduced to dragging and dropping and waiting for progress bars to fill before you can proceed.
You can drag and drop perks onto squads to promote them and drag squads onto flag markers to direct them. UAVs/EMPs, Cruise missiles, vehicle drop and supply drop can be assigned to any location on the map.
It's nice to communicate with squads via VOIP, but you can't tell who's talking in the squad.
In BF2 you could talk to all squads at once by selecting them, here you can do one at a time. Better than nothing I suppose and finally being somewhat 2013-ish being able to do it via tablet.
Overall it's functional and decent but will not compare to PC. Its main draw is for when I'm away from home and bring my iPad with me and need to get my TPG fix, or when I'm too lazy to crawl out of bed into the cold winter.
Here are some screencaps
You can see that the specific perks of a particular flag are labeled on the left side.
You can zoom in to greater detail but no true top-down view ala BF2. This is especially helpful for precision drops or cruise missile placement.
Commanders get early notification of cruise missile launches and their targets as denoted by the red or blue solid line. Drag the "evac order" onto a flag or nearby squad to tell them to get out. Another time the "evac order" would be helpful is the TV tower on Shanghai coming down (although you'd have to know this beforehand to provide any real warning).
The pesky proxy attack disables all views for 15 seconds. You can drag your proxy attack anywhere but it's not clear what effect it has. Presumably, dropping the proxy attack onto an the enemy C flag on Shanghai, for example, may disable the incoming cruise missile. I haven't seen whether or not it interrupts a missile already in flight.Last edited by nihilanth311; 11-21-13 at 05:58 PM.

Re: Command "Pad"
It sounds like what a commander can do on a pc.
A proxy attack is map wide. It will disable everything the other commander is doing. My goal is to succeed in any mission - and live to succeed again.
God grant that I may not be found wanting, that I will not fail this sacred trust.
