BF4 Snipers

I just started using the Recon class since I've basically maxed out my Assault class. I have absolutely fallen in love with DMRs... Accurate, does a lot of damage, good close-up range, and can hit long shots. So now, not only can I snipe and help out the team by picking off players, but I can play aggressive and take points as well. It's a ton of fun!

Oh and forgot to mention. When I do use long-range snipers, I never try to zero it in. I'm not sure why, but I find it unnecessary since it throws off my shot and timing. Instead, I just leave it set to zero and adjust my shot accordingly. It's a lot easier for me for some reason. lol I know I'm not the only one either.

Now that I've unlocked the last sniper rifle, I need to unlock the range finder. Then, I need to log into the practice range and start zeroing it in. I love the concept and I think its something worth exploring.

As far as snipers in general, it really depends active vs passive. I'm almost never passive. Usually I'm balls to the wall, with that said, it would make more sense to run with a DMR. For some reason though, I was able to unlock all the bolt action snipers easier than the DMR's. It felt like grinding...and not in a good way.

The toys offered to the snipers are fantastic as others have mentioned. I missed the recon guy having C4 in BF3. You can now use it as another anti-tank class. Dont get me started on the beacon, and TUGs. Makes me wish I could roll with more gadgets, like putting a laser designator on a sniper rifle and have it be like a laser sight only for aiming down the scope.

I'm not a very good sniper but have managed to unlock the range finder. Which I'm very disappointed in. All it does it tell you the range. "Well duuhhhuu Rhys what'd you expect it to do!". Well, I expected that I'd be able to zero directly to the number on the range finder. As far as I'm aware, it doesn't. You're still stuck to manually adjusting the zeroing number to the presets. If you're targeting people near a flag, it's just as easy to get a range off the flag to adjust to.

yeah i need to get better at guessing range and bullet drop i have it within 2-3 shots usally i'd like to have it in 1

@Pote & Rhys: try using a 6x scope with canted sights and a suppressor. I used that and loved its ability to be aggressive or passive . I concur with range finders just look at local flags and gauge distance, shoot and adjust.

i get the best of both worlds using a sniper and the shorty (3 shot shotgun hand gun) for up close at close range the shorty takes people out in 2 shots 1 at point blank

If I get that aggressive, I'll use the DMR's since I have a lot to go with those yet. With the shortie or G18 as a backup.

Cracks me up in Locker to switch my primary to a shotgun only to realize my backup is a shotgun. Duhhooo!
