Re: EA hit by class action suit
Yeah nobody forced people to buy the game. That would be like suing a game company just because you didnt like the game that you bought.
With that being said though, I think EA had a deadline to meet (end of Q3, beginning of Q4 before the holiday rush) and rushed this to production instead of taking their time and doing it right. Thats sadly the model of releasing games these days and it has snowballed a bit out of control to the point of getting an alpha/beta version at go-live.

Yeah as long as a developer keeps shitting out patches, Im ok with it too. Sadly most dont do that or they do but taper off after theres enough duct tape and chewing gum on it to keep it "stable enough".
Then on the other side of the coin you have a game like TF2 that is just pushing more and more hats to over-saturate...

Yeah, but 99% of the items/hats/maps/whatever that TF2 keeps shitting out aren't even DEVELOPED by Valve. They come from the community. They just package them up and send them as a Steam update. I doubt there's more than a small handful of people still supporting TF2 directly. Most are going to be supporting the Source engine and sending out updates that affect all Source-based games.

There were 2 deadlines EA was pushing to beat. They wanted a game out in time for the holiday season, but also the next incarnation of the CoD franchise came out in close proximity to BF4. In addition, they were launch day (or close) for the next generation consoles. They were greedy and still insisted on releasing for Xbox 360 and PS3... but their installation base is so huge at this point... it'd be stupid not to.
