Apparently it's been re-worked to the point that it's probably the most well-balanced AT weapon available. The lock on time is very short, the laze lock-on time is almost instant, and it does 34 damage no matter what. If you hit an armored car, it kills all passengers including the gunner.
To compromise, the projectile's not too fast, can be spoofed via IR smoke, and you have to hold on target (something you don't HAVE to do with the SRAW). It also has trouble locking onto vehicles you can't see all the way, so it's best used from an elevated position.
Just thought I would share since I'm moving away from the SRAW and picking up the Javelin now. We need more people to mark targets."In matters of style, swim with the currents... in matters of principle, stand like a rock."

Re: So... the Javelin
Every time I play Recon and mark targets I feel like my efforts are wasted. I hate sitting on a hill being useless. I also do a DMR in a CQB setup with a red dot and prefer to not snipe too much... so sitting far off isn't really meant for me.
I will carry the Javelin this week when I play Eng. and see if it makes much of a difference. I get a surprising number of kills 'sniping' with the SRAW, I am going to miss having that long range attack on infantry.

Re: So... the Javelin
tried out the javelin the last couple of engineer outings and it is, in fact, better than it used to be. I still don't like holding a lock until it hits, it typically results in me dying. That said, from long range or with someone marking targets it is much nicer. I still prefer to play anti air.
