It's called simple economics Guyver. If people are stupid enough to buy things at a higher price, companies will continue to charge the higher price. EA obviously allows the other markets to sell them at cheaper prices, but chooses not to drop their prices themselves. Big fucking deal. Get over it.

I wouldn't say "stupid", but rather "willing and able". Some people have to wait for things to be on discount before they buy. Sorta like buying off the discount rack at Dillard's or Macy's. If you buy something from last season, it will be less expensive. It doesn't mean the enjoyment will be any less from the person that buys it later months down the line. The payoff is that people that choose to buy at the new release price will get to enjoy the product NOW before those that choose to wait. Some games I will choose to purchase at the release day price, while others I will wait until the price drops.

I hope you know that Steam doesn't set the prices of their own games. The game publishers and developers set those prices. So the price you paid for BC2 on Steam was authorized by EA. Unless you are buying a big box copy of the game, you will always be paying the price that the content owner is approving.

I think that's kind of the point (from my perspective anyway) They could sell their games directly, cheaper, but they don't.
Just imagine any other service or store that makes you pay more for coming through their door as opposed to going to their competitor at less price.
Just don't make no sense to me.
Brand loyalty is very important in marketing circles, and EA just don't seem to give a shit, lol.
Wtf is even the point of origin, if they are not going to compete with other companies selling their product cheaper? Seriously, is it just to get a contact EM from me? I don't ever check that Em, so I hope not.....I'm still in absolute awe in understanding the origin business model.....What exactly are they offering me that I don't have someone else?
Answer : exclusive titles available no where else!
But no, that's not true either (to my knowledge), I bought my BF4 from amazon and activated on origin....so wtf is even the point, anyway? Just to be a pain in my ass? Mission accomplished, jeez.Last edited by Warflagon; 06-07-14 at 03:30 PM.

Well I think EA wants you to buy all of the games they sell on Origin, but they sell hard box copies, as well as digital copies on Amazon for convenience to the customers. That said, Amazon gets a cut, just as Best Buy or wherever you buy your hard copy of the game.
Steam is a direct competitor of EA. For EA to continue to sell their products on Steam, they would lose money on EVERY single sale. Sort of like Ford giving Chevy money to sell their cars for them. If they are direct competitors, it makes sense to keep things separate. The point of Origin is to prevent having to pay another company to sell your product. Now, not all game developers and publishers have the means to offer the download services that Origin does, so they have to rely on companies like EA and Steam to continue offering the products.
Personally, I am totally fine with Origin. EA has messed up in the past, but so has Steam. While I still prefer Steam, I understand the need for competition. If Steam were to become the monopoly of digital distribution, they could charge whatever they want for developers to sell games on their site. The competition keeps things fair and lets the buyer decide what service they want. Sometimes there will be exclusivity, such as with EA/Origin, and even with UPlay for a lot of games.

lol...Blame the customer, rather than call EA greedy. Good call.
I do know that. That makes it even more shitty on EA's part. They're charging more for the same thing on their own store front, than other outlets. "Hey, we'll give a decent to good deal if you buy our games on Steam, Amazon, or GMG...but if you buy our games through Origin...we'll fuck you over...trollolololol."

Again, Guyver, Origin does have sales. They also give out free games every now and then. I recall BC2 and Vietnam expansion being on sale for $1. BF3 was recently free. They gave away Plants VS Zombies and Dead Space for free too. Your argument is simply false and you just want to troll and hate on EA.

Re: 2143 Dice Troll?
If you think it's false, you obviously don't check around before buy games.
Also, it's ironic that you call me a troll. I'll remember that the next time EA fucks (and they will) and everyone starts bitching because they were screwed over.
EDIT:
Origin is competitor to Steam, not the other way around. (They're not a very big one either.) They will probably never catch up. As I said earlier, Origin is faster than Steam..but, that's only because Origin is literally barebones in comparison. You can't come years late to party, bring nothing to the table, and expect to compete.Last edited by Guyver; 06-08-14 at 11:26 PM.
