After getting quite a bit of usage out of the SR338, it's definitely a weapon that doesn't excel at particularly anything. It's a DMR with 5 extra max damage and a better damage profile out to its minimum damage. It's barely acceptable for close range combat due to its 2 hit kill. At long range, its slow bullet velocity and unbearably large spread per shot make it difficult to land hits. But, by default, you don't have to reset between shots and it hits pretty darn hard at medium range.
Overall, I would want a DMR for medium range, and a bolt action for long range. The SR338 tries to fill everything and just doesn't do all that well."In matters of style, swim with the currents... in matters of principle, stand like a rock."

Re: DMR Changes
Jeez, I didn't realize how often I'm using a DMR
Weapons and Unlocks - Chapel976 - Battlelog / Battlefield 4
or the Type88 for that matter... I can't remember the last time I used the Type88...
but I like the DMRs myself. I pretty much use the ACE 53 SV whenever I'm outside and the SG553 when I expect a CQB.
I like the RPKs when I need to go on the offensive. For some reason it's really accurate with iron sights.
But the ACE 53 is my mainstay
