Thread: Why is my preferred playstyle being punished?

i like to snipe as much as i can but you gota help your team be useful not just rack up kills at a guess i would say thats a reason they would slay you you weren't doing anything for the good of the team maybe the cap point you were guarding was useless maybe you disobeyed your commander or squad leader

We do not mind if you want to play recon with a sniper load out as long as you are pushing an objective and not just camping. I recommend reading our rules as it may clear up any confusion you may have as to why the admin killed you for not pushing an objective.

"Push Objectives!" was the message I got when I was slain.

Just wanted some explanations, is all.

In every game we've ever hosted. The mantra is and always has been "Pursue the objective, or die trying." I'm guessing you were warned more than once before the slay.

Push to the next advantage that way you're supporting the team or defending a point but you better be good.

There are many people that have been around TeamPlayerGaming servers for a long time that love to snipe. However TPG has always been based on working together for the team. Things like joining a squad, listening to your squadleader's orders, and pushing for a team win. Having a couple of good snipers on a team can be very beneficial, but at the end of the round the losing team will almost always be the team that did not hold enough capture points.

My advise is if you want to play as a sniper, join a large (ish) squad, communicate what you are doing (i.e. "I am at this location and I will cover your approach to this point that you are attacking") and if the squadleader asks you to attack the point or spawn on him with an engineer kit to take down a tank that is decimating the squad, do it. You can always go back to sniping once the team is ahead in points. You also have the option of being a squadleader, but remember that if your squad is sitting back at base, sniping across the map, that is usually not going to win a round.

When your team is losing you need to stop sniping and help take flags. You have to remember if there are 6 players doing nothing but sniping that is about 20% of the team not capping flags. I am sure a warning was sent out before you were slayed.

I was a lone sniper back in the day here. Although I was racking up kills and watching flags I was really not helping the team. This hurt me with fellow players. Regs did not want me on their squads because of the lack of teamplay i showed. I had issues trying to join some resident clans. All of their players said my play style sucked and I need to help the squad more.
I changed gears and gave it a shot......and I've never turned back. I'm a leader of a resident clan now. Well liked for the most part and mostly everyone who I play with know I'll do what the team needs. Don't care if my K is 2 and 12.....as long as we win.

Sorry for the long post. All I can say is be a sniper but stick with the squad and if the SL decides or Cmd decides to defend a flag....then go hide and snipe. You will find that after a while that the game is more enjoyable....knowing that you are helping the other 31 guys if the server is full win the game.
