Thread: BF4 can't hear anyone over voip

Basically what the subject says....I've tried so many things to fix this problem, but I can't hear VOIP or NPC's in campaign during cutscenes. This is getting annoying, I am trying to play with the squad but how can I when I can't even hear them ):
Has anyone here had this problem, and if so, how did you go about fixing it? I have the setting turned on and 100% volume, but it doesn't work.

I had the same issue a long time ago. What i did to fix it was go to the speaker icon in the bottom right and right clicked it and select playback devices. My issue was i had multiple playback devices enabled so by disabling all but my main playback device that fixed the issue. It may take a little trial and error but i believe that is what is causing your issue. You may not need to disable all but one, but i imagine there is one that needs to be disabled to solve the issue.

Few items I've found poking around. You may have already done some if not all of these already:

Check and see if VOIP is activated and the volume is adjustable.

Check your audio mixer settings and make sure something isn't muted.

Update your audio drivers.

Update directx.

Try a different audio or usb port.

Tried every single one of those already ):

I'm talking live with a BF4 customer support dude, we will see how this goes. Been 40 minutes and he's just as confused as I am soooo.......no high hopes still.

In audio properties, try selecting default communication device.

So I don't know what happened, the EA customer support guy didn't find me a solution, and I didn't do anything different but today it randomly started working. It makes NO sense at all....but I'm not complaining. Wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work tomorrow though. This is the weirdest thing ever
