Re: BF1 Open Beta Is Live!
I played a few rounds late last night. Overall, I liked it. New enough to be interesting, but familiar enough to be comfortable. It's always a plus, in any game (just as in real life), when you can shoot a horse. I can't say it's worth $130, but I will likely shell it out, with a moderate amount of bitching.

Re: BF1 Open Beta Is Live!
On one server I kept spawning without arms or a weapon. Still a tad bit buggy At least I had legs so I could run around! Also unlocks would be there then not. I'm guessing they're doing testing on their end or mucking around with the game.
For tanks, it seems the mechanic's hammer is more effective than tank grenades on taking them out.

Played a couple of hours today and don't care for the game at all. Tanks seem over powered, every server I was on had the typical tank and plane whores, no teamwork at all, how many times to I have to shoot a horse to kill it as they seem invincible, I can unload the 'AA' into a plane and only damage it. I know it's Beta but I'm not impressed

Re: BF1 Open Beta Is Live!
HI All,
I know that many use Medal of Honour and Call of Duty as reference of distaste. I am not in this instance, but making an honest assessment of what I have seen so far.
I agree with DG with regards to the graphics. I also bear in mind that this is not the finished article. So I can really forgive that at this stage.
The feel. The game play and the map lay out feels very much like Call of Duty or Medal of Honour to me. Not just the aforementioned but also the feel of the way the weapons react,or should I say handle.
I agree with much here. The tanks seem over kill. I must say though the one trip in an aircraft felt good.
I need a bit more time in this game before I make my mind up. I feel that this may well be a crash and burn for Battlefield. They may well sell the copies in the beginning but I wonder if the comparison with Star wars is the way this will go.TacoDave liked this post

Re: BF1 Open Beta Is Live!
I thought it was great, then again I played it solo first and was totally bored, then I played with a full squad of friends and had good old teamwork going...something about WW weapons just feels good, love all the single fire guns
Tanks were definitely strong, but we solved that by turning our friend into a tank whore and having him follow us around giving support. I'd also imagine better anti-tank options will be available once people get rank ups
in short...only play with teamplayers, same old. I also found Rush to be more interesting, more infantry based

Re: BF1 Open Beta Is Live!
I like the game itself, but I think this beta is hot garbage. They had the at rocket launcher unlocked in the alpha, but decided this time they would lock it off with a level wall that they won't even tell you how close you are to reaching The map has only one real weather effect to it I've seen (sandstorm) and I've experienced more game breaking bugs in this beta them I did in the alpha. Had the one where I spawn in with nothing, and ended up having to find a new server to fix that. There was another one where the armored car my squad was in would randomly disappear and kick us out of the vehicle.
With that said, there are a few new things I've noticed that I really approve of. There is no counter knitting in this game, but that's off set by how melee attacks from the front are no longer one hit kills. Now I have a chance to respond if you bash me in the face. You can also duel people with melee weapons now. If both of you attack eachother with a melee attack up front, they bounce off eachother and do no damage. My truck strategy proved super effective on bravo, defending the flag from multiple waves of attackers while rush screwed around at alpha. And iron sights in this game are thankfully really good.

Re: BF1 Open Beta Is Live!
Mmmm,
Having played a little more I would say that the only kit that feels half way improved or comfortable would be the sniper kit. This has not been lost on many and I found myself playing rush with a few ....and being sniped by the many.
I found the field gun to be fun. I had one playable round on BF 1 last night. The rest of the rounds were so buggy...no weapons....server crash....stuck in vehicle....so on and so on. They have a lot to fix for sure. Not fun last night. Would love to squad with some guys from TPG. Then maybe we will see.
October 21st release?....Got your work cut out me thinks boyoLast edited by millwalljames; 09-05-16 at 01:07 PM.
