Thread: BF1 Open Beta Is Live!

...For Battlefield Insiders? I think official public open beta starts tomorrow maybe?

Anywho, just played about 4 or 5 rounds and the game is frickin' sweet! Voip was down I guess, hopefully they fix that soon. I really like the medic class. I'll probably be on tomorrow night if anyone wants to party up!

I Winton be buying it but if I can run it maybe ill play the open beta a bit just to play with tpg peeps who ain't playing overwatch

I played several rounds last night and loved it! The randomized weather events are way better than the scripted levolution events in BF4.

I mostly just played medic, I like the weapons and the mechanics. Reviving with the syringe is just like the defibrillator but they don't actually have any notifications or icons over dead friendlies, you kind of just have to watch and see who goes down. As a result, reviving is less common unless someone goes down next to you. I'm not sure if it's intentional or if they will be adding some kind of indicator. No class seems too OP, there's good balance. Tanks are beast mode but they seem just right. Dogfights for the most part didn't seem to have had much of an impact on ground fighting, I think I only got killed by air maybe once or twice in like 5 rounds. Maybe just nobody has gotten really good with the planes yet?

When you level up, you get war bonds which you spend on unlocking weapons and attachments. Items require a minimum level you need to be before you can spend your war bonds on them.

The game also runs pretty smooth. I was playing on 2560x1440 on ultra everything and getting around 120fps. The resolution scaling by default was set to 42% though so I'm not sure what exactly it was doing behind the scenes. I noticed the textures on the walls and some of the dirt when you dive looked strange and low res when you really stopped and looked so maybe they don't have all of the highest resolution textures loaded in? The beta is only 7GB. I got bayonetted through a wall and fell through a stairs but for the most part I'd say it runs quite good for a beta.

I'm hoping they get the VOIP working soon because teamplay is the one thing missing.
