Thread: 2018 TBA

This will be the first Battlefield I don't buy at release in a while. I've gotten tired of the crap. I really enjoyed 2, 3, and 4, but BF1 was such a pile as far as gameplay in my opinion. I think part of it is I would like to play with similar people on routine (TPG server) as that is a 1000x more fun to me.

BF is dead and has been for years. They ruined their own series.

They recently reworked all the weapons in BF1 and the game plays so much better...it's just a shame that it's dead that they didn't fix the rest of the game. No amount of new maps and weapon reworks will make a difference when the game can't even maintain enough players to consistently play it.

The shadiest thing I've ever seen from them has been happening lately, where in the server browser, the player counts will show 64/64 for many of the servers but upon joining only finding 10-20 players connected. I got so triggered that I sat and watched for like 15-20 minutes, leaving/joining different servers and the player cound wouldn't update for certain servers, they were locked at 64/64. I favorited a couple of them and then came back on other nights to check, same thing. It's total b.s., I wonder how much of their "premium subscription" the server owners had to pay to trick people into think they're joining a full server. As a matter of fact, the last several times I've logged in to play BF1, there haven't even been more than 2 or 3 legitimately full servers, and probably only 5 or 6 servers with more than 10 people connected.

I could go to Day of Defeat or Insurgency and find more people playing. I hope someday Dice will take battlefield back to its roots but I am doubtful.

I never bought BF1. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I want anything BF2/2142 or earlier to be revamped graphically and leave gameplay alone. Those were great games. It's sort of a tossup for me on my favorite. Either BF2, or BF Vietnam. Those were the days.

When I can put in over a thousand hours in one game and still want to play more of it, bad graphics (by todays standards) and all, that's a good game. I miss BF2.....

Agreed, BF2 and BF2142 were incredible. I put 1000 hours into BF2 as well. Probably not quite that much in 2142 though. Very minimal progression, only a handful of unlocks, but I didn't care. The game was what was fun. The squads, the kits, the game mechanics, and the maps. Even dealing with punkbuster and all the other issues was worth it.

BF1 was a great game that nobody wanted or needed. I put maybe a dozen or so hours into it and lost interest.

Remember the days when people got excited for new games instead of automatically expecting the worst? Maybe its just my age but a decade or so ago it seemed gaming was so exciting, now most announcements, at least in the triple A market bring more worry thanhype.

The main reason BF1 sucked most of all is that EA decided to not allow communities to host their own servers in the beginning. It's not a fun game or experience when playing with non team playing players.

That is why I too stopped playing BF1. It was just a mindless grind to unlock new weapons skins and perks. Wasn't having fun playing. Can't taunt regulars which was the most fun. Oh yea base rape and stealing enemy assets.. Reading the enemy commander cry out he needs help in chat!

Will I get BF 5? It depends after 3 months after release and what *changes* they added or not added to the game. If it's the same old shit.. I'll pass. I hope they recreate it like BF1942. Submarines, carriers, battleships!
