I jumped into the open beta expecting to absolutely hate it, and ended up loving it. Feels like the first Battlefield game since 2 and 2142 that actually goes out of its way to promote squadplay with its limited ammo pool and health regen. And the gunplay is a clear improvement over whatever garbage BF1's was. I know everyone's grown very cynical when it comes to DICE, but I feel it's worth checking out while it's free.
I'd certainly love to see a TPG server when it comes out, but I'm pretty sure DICE hasn't even mentioned a thing about server rental and admin tools, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

I played 5-6 hours of the beta, and so far I think it is the best one since BF2. I think the gunplay is finally interesting again (I dropped out of BF1 after a very short time), I think the possibilities for great squadplay are very promising. Did not try vehicles, but have heard they are underwhelming. But as an infantry only kinda guy, I did not care...

It is also slower, more tactical and with much greater incentives to defend flags as you can buil defensive structures, even block off entrances entirely to funnel enemies through chokepoints.

It was very enjoyable. I won't pre order. But I am pretty sure I will get it when it comes out as long as the bugs are fixed and all the advertised features are included and working. Will keep an eye out on youtube for the verdicts on that front.

I will say it made me really miss my squadmates from the old days because I think a squad working well together with complementing kits (medic, support and assault) will be extremely powerful in this game.

I played the beta on the city map and all I wanted was a squad of TPG guys. Pub style play is pretty blah as you really need the team aspect of it to do anything well. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I won't preorder. I have no desire to pub much anymore. I really enjoyed rolling with the TPG gang.

There was also an interview I saw a week or two ago, where the devs seemed to acknowledge that the approach they took with BF1 regarding server rental was a mistake. I wish I had saved that video.
Considering the game is being delayed and is planned to ship with missing features to be implemented post-launch, I have a feeling that RSP won't be their top priority, but there might be hope that they'll offer something decent after the game's release. Maybe.
