It sort of depends on the person you're crewing with though. A lot of people don't orient well to a "2 o'clock" warning, so saying a right/left side and landmark sometimes works better: "Right side, near the mosque, RPG".

As far as a small recon unit, you might want to try a marksman instead of a sniper in that mix.

SL and pilot works well for US on Al Basrah. I was in a squad that went around destroying the enemy bridges and ammo caches while the fight for Village was warming up. Our squad was mostly SF with Rifleman support, and once that caches were blown we landed south of Village and helped mop up before moving on Facility. The key is having a good pilot who keeps the aircraft out of harms way and can do quick insertions, and a SL who stays alive and lets the squad do the grunt work.

Based on this post I don't think we are getting half as much as we can out of this game from a tactics standpoint. What you posted on how you attacked Al Basrah was beautiful. We need some folks to study up on these maps and go commander. I don't want to see PR become run and gun like BF2 did.

where do i sign up? I have had the chance to be your bomber in both the f-15 and the su-30 in vanilla bf2, and i am down for being your gunner, driver/operator of the .50 cal or the gunner/driver next to your tank....

i think that there are some tank tactics that really have to be implemented etc...especially in an al basrah situation and ejod desert etc......but i am down and ill def be on PR tonight for that!!!

Awsome. Would love to have ya Tgross. Dont need to sign up, just try to get in squad with me and i try to go for tanks. It doesnt allways happen though. If i miss the tanks i go for APC, then Hummer or Supply truck depends on the map. I havent even flown much in this game, but would love to do some fast insertions with the little bird. I need just a Liiiiiitle more practice on that one though. Im in love with the armor now that its more realistic.
Remember, the top gunner doesnt need the crew kit. And i often stand off in the open maps and lay down some heavy rounds. "A bit of tank sniping", before i go in. They have zoom now, so theres an advantage to staying back an pounding them a bit before you go in. I also look for big squads that are moving through the streets, and try to get up with them. I only hope they know im helping and can use the tank as cover. I also hope that with all those extra eyes around, they keep the rpg and suicide bombers down.

Thanks woof for your input. Im thinking it could be made even shorter too, maybe just "tango 6" or "tango 3" meaning theres an enemy in the 6 oclock direction. Often i hear their foot steps went they are sneaking up behind me. Maybe "enemy near" get moving now! or look behind us!. Thats the top gunners job by the way. He can most easily watch the tanks rear. I might suggest that top gunners make use of the hide key. When the tank stops we often loose the top gunner to a sniper.

Taking damage. Dont be afraid to make a run for the desert, so we can all hop out and repair. Its alot shorter wait than waiting for that tank to respawn. I use smoke a lot, but i noticed the supply truck doesnt re stock it. Do you have to go back to main base for it?

I've decided on one simple comand to get used to. When the gunner is scanning let him say clear when he's ready to move on. Maybe gunner should just say hold when he wants to scan, and stop or stop, tango's when he see's a confirmed target he wants to shoot at. Im probably picking this commands thing apart too much, but ive just over heard some tank crews yelling and wasting too much time trying to communicate, and they lost valuable time and either got killed or lost sight of the target.
I look forward to tromping with ya tgross. Goreziad is keen and easy going too. We need to get him in the tank with us too. Im still trying to decide on who's the best for commanding the tank. It seems the gunner has the best view, but i seem to do good driving and knowing what the gunner should be looking at most of the time, so i command from there at times. Its all new still, and im flexable.

alien i had fun playing in your squad last night, sorry for leaving abruptly but sometimes the al basrah map just drags on and on..........i know its a favorite, and it is fun.....but.......sometimes it just gets a bit much etc.....so that is why i left....ill prob be back on tonight, though lately when i have had the chance to play bf2 with trigger,bravopathfinder and ranger10 i can't seem to leave and go to PR.......but ill probably see you there tonight and this weekend. :4 :9

ha......i don't think your vehicle can withstand a direct hit from a m1a2 tank round........but we shall see, but i also must watch you and study your ways so i can to be a jihad jihad, its so much more fun than putting c4 on a car, though i never really understood that, because when that is done in bf2 its annoying, unles you do it to blow up a uav or SAT quickly.
