Yep, a crack is what you need. It isn't illegal, if you have your own CD, wich you have.

i just hopped on Bit Comet (bit-torrent downloader) downloaded alcohol 120%, made a virtual drive, copied the whole cd into it and im good...

takes a lil bit of system resources, but ive never had a problem with increased load times on anything...

Yeah, I'm using daemon tools and a mini image from gamecopyworld.com for BF2. Works great, never had any problems with it. 2142 uses newer copy protection, though, and so far I haven't been able to get that working with a mini image.

DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY!!!!!!!!

It does not work. Yes you can load BF2 but after being connected for 1-5 minutes you are kicked by PB for a memory violation. I did not save the old files so now I have to re-install BF2.

gamecopyworld is a good place to find no-CD exes for single player type games that you dont want to have to shuffle CDs for. If you have purchased a game and legally own it of coarse as it is also a gateway for folks to try to cheat the system and pirate games.

I would stay away from there for anything that has anti-cheat type of detection, records stats, or the like.
Another negative is that every patch is pretty much guaranteed to break the no-cd exe and you'll be be back to swapping disks till the exe is updated.
