Kerry told students in California that if they study hard they could do well, but if they don't "you get stuck in Iraq." His office said he misread his remarks and intended to say "You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq. Just ask President Bush."

"I said it was a botched joke. Of course, I'm sorry about a botched joke," Kerry, who refused to apologize on Tuesday, said on the "Imus in the Morning" radio show on MSNBC, calling his comments "pretty stupid."

That photo is pretty funny. I honestly don't think Kerry did that on purpose and it was a joke taken out of context. I'm by all means not a Kerry fan and not a democrat. Kerry himself is a veteran and I think his joking wasn't said right. I think he was trying to attack Bush. It just came out wrong.

HaHa! That is pretty funny, I like how they spell everything wrong with the backwards letters. It seems like politicians always have a foot suck in their mouth... or sometimes it is something else.

No, he is not an idiot... He's actually rather intelligent.

He's just got no sense of humor, speaks in a way that makes you want to go to sleep and has a track record of bad mouthing the military.

So, we will never see President John Kerry... you never bad mouth the military and become president. Plain and simple.

Wow. Imagine if Kerry had won in '04. The Americans would have a president that said incredibly stupid things in public - really dodged a bullet there

I think he meant to say what he said as a joke. The "real" remarks sound like they were made up after the fact.
