Two problems I have with sniping.
1. When you get a good spot to hide there is usually no action.
2. When you get a good spot and there is action you can count on being spotted out by the commander, so you better move, and a moving sniper might as well put on a bullseye suit.

Re: Sniping
Its been my experience that when ever the going gets tough out come the sniper rifles and they all go hide.
And if you ever get capped out you can always count on 2 snipers to survive, 2 dots on the map just laying there not moving not doing anything but holding up the inevitable shameful defeat
There for just like in project reality I think sniper kits should be limited, very very few use the kit properly.

Re: Sniping
I like knifing snipers, taking their kits, planting their claymores and watching them die by them! I scope around and pick off whatever nme is lieing about and ...
Then of course, I go back to whatever kit I was using before so that I can get some real work done.
...
I am not a fan of those that let snipers live!My goal is to succeed in any mission - and live to succeed again.
God grant that I may not be found wanting, that I will not fail this sacred trust.

Re: Sniping
It's been my experience that the sniper kit is a good SUPPORT type kit, especially when utilized by the squad leader with a good medic nearby with a good automatic handy. There are different reasons why I use different sniper rifles on different maps, but the reason I think it's a good pick is because you can assist your squad during movement AND during assault of a flag by picking off the ones they can't see/get-to. It also allows you to spot the enemy at further range so your squad can handle them at their leisure. I really should do that more, but too many times, my squad will hit a wall, and I get so frustrated because they can't get the one guy thats keeping them from moving forward that I will get into the fight myself, which puts me and their spawn point at risk, but what else am I to do? Lol.
Mind you, I don't do it all the time, but it IS effective when you are supporting a squad. The idea kinda pisses me off in a way, however, because typically, in the real Marine Corps, snipers are used as THE sharp end of the sword, rather than as a support tool. The real Army uses snipers as a support tool for infantry units to demoralize the enemy and eliminate the enemies leaders.

Re: Sniping
Ok, so I am a little late with this thread...
But I have played sniper quite a bit (compared to my other times except medic) so I felt like I should respond. I have an inordinate ratio of claymore kills...
I think a sniper is useful in one particular condition: flag defense. if a whole squad hunkers down to defend a flag, a sniper can take the high ground and spot incoming enemies for the rest of the squad so they can be prepared. Also, the sniper can claymore the area to let everyone know if someone has slipped inside.
but as Jeep said, and I have experienced, claymores do not protect flags from a full squad, they give an enemy medic some revive points
Just my two cents on an old post...
On another note I rarely play sniper anymore...all those claymore kills make me feel dirty. And the business end of Kel's knife is rather discouraging...
