Well, I know what I'm doing next Titan map I play! Thanks Laggy, that's a damned fine idea, especially since the sonar has no altitude limit, it's 2D in scope.

The sonars, infantry or vehicle, do not have vertical limits. Which is why occasionally, on maps like Suez, I place the sonar UNDER the enemy titan. THey can't take it out that way.

But playing a titan commander, your most useful kit is going to be the engineer. You can keep fixing the guns (for yourself if need be), the roller mines will clog up the back landing decks, the vehicle sonar lets you man the guns if no one else is around. The rest of the stuff in the engineer kit just won't be that useful for a titan commander in my opinion.

I have no idea what mine bait thrown on the hangar floor would do to enemy mines sittingon top of the shield. "COULD" be entertaining.

Even if the world is going to hell in a handbasket, the commander can't really stop commanding and run to the titan defense. He has to keep putting his head back in to the cmmander hood and keep his other squads flowing with information and/or supplies.

Therefore the medic and support classes are out. Their kits just make you too intimate with the fighting which will take your attention from commanding. Repairing a titan gun can be done while you are waiting for assets to recharge.

    Laggy

Totally. When I command I always spawn engineer to repair blown assets. Most of the time, I'm the only one anywhere near close enough to get the repairs done in a reasonable amount of time, and it makes no sense to retask an entire squad for repair duty (or worse, demand they reduce their force strength by splitting off a guy or two) when they've got more important things to worry about. Like killing bad guys.

Sometimes when you are defending the Titan you can run back to the edge of the back deck, so that you are outside of the shield. From there you can jump up on the side rail, and you are still outside of the shield. I lke to lean over the side and take out that pesky AA gun that is taking out my Titan guns faster than I can repair them (works on the Suez map if you are in the far base, away from the bridge). You can also lob grenades onto the top deck to take out an enemy engineer that is taking out your AA guns, or anyone defending a beacon. Laggy, I bet that this would be a good place to throw mine bait on top of your shield to get rid of those roller mines over your chopper deck.

One thing that irks me is that my little traps seem to disappear a lot. You have probably noticed that when you start laying mines and are getting resupplied the old ones start to go away as fast as you lay new ones. This happens sometimes when I lay mines and respawn with a sonar or a different gun, which is a little frustrating. I guess this keep you from covering the whole map with mines... wouldn't that be nice? See, here is more proof that the Engineer is so deadly that the game has to build in some checks and balances. Saw the bouncing mines again last night, someone was lobbing them from the Titan at the APCs this time... but I have seen them just bouncing across the map without a Titan in sight before, which is really wierd. Am I the only one that sees this? Maybe just a pigment of my imagination? I hope I don't start dreaming about them... what would it all mean... sorry, I'm back.... what were we talking about?

I *think* the bouncing mines are chasing an aircraft. I've seen that before, too. The wierdest roller I've ever seen was waaaaaay up in the sky, just... floating. I was in the door of a transport as we flew past it. Then an enemy gunship came by to harass us and off it flew to blow him up.

Still not sure how the hell that thing got up there or how it stayed there once it was in place. If I could figure that out, I'd be the most (un)popular engineer in the game with aircraft pilots from either side :9
