****Out of Memor Error : attempted allocation size: 0***

Please help!!! Above is my error message.....

    My stats:
i7 proc, Vista 64, 6 gig ram, GTX 295 vid card

I'll play and when I complete a level it will go to that screen shot above and shut down the entire game. It happens randomly when I play but it always happens after I hit a safe house and I'm going to the next level. This is sooo annoying can anyone help me pleeeeeeeeeeease!!!

    I've tried:

    -windowed mode
    -turning off multi core rendering
-changing page file usage from low, medium and high
    -installed service packs
    -turning off steam cloud
    -ram mem tests
    -uninstall/reinstall entire game

Christ man, nice System! I'm not sure what's wrong though. Is this only happening on L4D? I had a similar situation with most all my games after upgrading my memory and video card. I Did a MoBo flash and the problem went away.

lol, Sorry I called you man the previous post if your not and thats actually your pic on your profile. I have a bad habit of assuming if it's a gaming site everyone on it is a guy.

Have you tried verifying integrity of game cache and defragmenting the game files through steam? I would also try completely re-installing steam. I seemed to have multiple random problems with L4D for some reason. That always fixed it.

If not, it sounds like your hard drive might be corrupted. I would check it for errors and do a full wipe if neccesary.

BTW, has anyone said you kind of look like Olivia Munn?

I call bullcrap. Are you saying that you have that powerful computer system just so you can play L4D?! Haha, but yeah it's terribly addicting. It's the only game I have never gotten bored with after a few months of playing.

And I'm sorry I couldn't be any help. Hopefully someone more computer literate than me can fix your problem.

Just for grins, can you try running L4D in XP mode? Vista will allow you to run applications in modes that are defined for previous versions of Windows. It may not work though, since it is a 64 bit OS, but it is worth a try...

    Vista in XP mode

Just don't forget to put it back to it's original configuration if it doesn't work.
