Have you ever had one of those days ?
Yesterday had to be one of my worst days in my BF2142 playing career. Three Purple hearts in four maps. Has anyone ever topped that ? I could not seem to do anything right. Went in the water with a tank and survived because my dead ass did not eject......later thinking I was dead AKILLER says what are you doing Grey swimming ? I hit "W" and I'll be damned I'm still alive....One of those days to make me think about giving it up......Could it be that I quit smoking four months ago..or am I getting too old to play with such young bucks...retirement may be on the horizon. Any advice would be welcomed....

When I start having bad rounds where it seems like I just cant play right, I log the hell off before I get pissed...
Always back in the saddle the next night.
Id suggest finding something else to distract you, maybe another game; Company of Heros does a great job of distracting me when I need a break from shooting folks.

bah! I can't shoot as well as a lot of the people here. So, as I keep saying, I make information my friend. Sonars EVERYWHERE I go.
Then I figure, I'm damn tired of the gunships. For the last several weeks, everytime a big titan map comes up, I start the round as engineer, Anti-Air. Whether I can hit the aircraft or not, I lock them up with a solid radar lock. They go nuts. Rather entertaining from my perspective in hiding. In the space of a few weeks I've gotten like 180 kills with the SAAW.
Besides, if you're older, that means you're supposed to be bossing people around. Nature's circle of life or some such. Become a squad leader or commander more often. Being the leader doesn't mean you need to be out front. That's what you have WinterSays for. On conquest maps, I've had several rounds of 18-22 kills with purely orbitals and not dying for the entire round.
Play engineer on titan defense. Put a vehicle sonar on the titan. Doing that, by myself I can rotate through every gun really fast watching for the vehicles popping up on my sonar. Repair my own guns. Actually, its kind of a game trying to figure out which gun aims at the obligatory AA gun positioned to hit the titan. Enemy destroys a gun, I will repair it enough to see green, jump in shoot the AA turret. Same time he's shooting at me and destroying my gun. But, he isn't smart enough to get out of the AA until I get bored. He usually dies Just keep repairing, shoot, repairing, shoot.
Set up as support or engineer and get to the enemy base and leave sonars, sentry guns and roller mines. Then get out.
Setup as recon, get into the enemy base, drop APMs, blow up the goodies and get out. Then setup a distance away. You don't necessearily have to shoot, but if you call out targets, that is very helpful as well.
I still have fun with it. Those are just some of the ways. I've got more

Your both are right....I'm going to download INS tonight...See if that helps break up the monotony...and when I do play, find the fun in the game that I once had....I guess 3 Purple Hearts means I at least was trying to do something right ? Thanks guys....I'm pretty competitive as I know you are...Just sucks having a night like that.....

You better not quit buddy. Don't worry we all have bad nights. It's about fun, and friends, and so much more than just dominating every map. Don't worry about your score, just follow/give your orders, stick with your buddies, and it will all fall into place.

Re: Have you ever had one of those days ?
I now what you mean. Things like that seem to go in cycles; sometimes you're untouchable, others....you're made of paper, wet paper. It's kind of like golf, the way I play anyway. I hack my way through a course, (what was my score on that last hole? 8? Dammit!) Then you hit that perfect shot, from the tee, or pitch it on the green, or hole that 25' put. That's what keeps you coming back.
I've been in your squad quite a few times; in fact I remember one of the first times right after I found TTP. I don't remember your exact words but it was to the effect, 'everybody stick together, mutual support'. Coming from the wasteland of servers, that was a novel concept. Anyway to make a long story short, that's what I appreciate. I now that if as a squad we did all we could do, even if everybody else is running around aimlessly, then it was a good game. Would have been better if we had won, but that's what the next round is for.

Then they get angry......and you won't like it when they get angry! :P
