Survivor Strength and Weakness'
I honestly think that being any survivor you want without having any drawbacks or advantages is a bit disappointing considering Valve has released games like Team Fortress 2, which has great depth in terms of strengths and weakness' between different characters.
Here's what I thought could be done with the characters.
Louis
Height: Average
Body type: Skinny
Job: Office job
Strengths: Can move a little faster, jump a little higher *This isn't intending to be racist in any ways*
Weakness': He isn't as good shape as Bill or Francis, therefore he tires from meleeing much faster and pushed enemies back at a lesser distance than Bill or Francis. Does best with an M16 and pistols, and is less accurate and fires slower with shotguns
Francis
Height: Tall
Body type: Stocky
Job: Unknown, but nothing special.
Strengths: Can push enemies back farther than anyone else, and tires much slower from meleeing. He can reload shotgun slightly faster than other characters and can fire a shotgun faster while maintaining accuracy.
Weakness': He's the tallest character in the game, thus having a slightly larger hit box, thus making him more succeptible to being hit by a normal infected or an SI.
Zoey
Height: Small
Body type: Feminine
Job: Probably nothing much, but nothing involved with heavy lifting.. could very well take yoga classes
Strengths: She's a woman, *not trying to sound sexist* so she can't fire a shotgun as well as anyone else and does better with weapons that have less recoil. Thus making her more accurate and does a little more damage than most characters with pistols and hunting rifles.
Weakness': The shotgun is not a Zoey friendly weapon, so when she uses a weapon like this, after firing a bunch of simultanious shots, her aim is pretty much at the ceiling.
Bill
Height: Average
Body type: Older war veteran
Job: Probably something war related.. or nothing at all, like some war veterans do.
Strengths: He has 'war training', so he reloads hunting rifles, m16, uzi's and pistols faster than any other player and is more accurate with an m16 than any other weapon.
Weakness': He's old, and the more damage that's done to him, the slower he moves.
And of course, this isn't very detailed at all... rather a starting point or base for what could make the game more realistic and have the players rely more on their individual talents when they're needed.
So lets discuss this.

I think it should stay as is. Giving them different traits creates unfair advantages and disadvantages. It should stay on an even keel for each survivor, so that it completely comes down to each player’s individual skill rather than the characters certain abilities.

The idea is good and original, but I think it won't work. Everyone will want to pick that character maknig it even more difficult to fill a lobby because your favorite character isn't free any more.
In RTS games this works better: one army of the same country has the same units and weapons but slight modifications here and there giving 'sub-armies'. The difference is that in RTS games like that, people can all choose the same army if they want.

I think what Boo said is why they didn't do this; everyone will want their favourite character (hell, you still get people quitting lobbies because someone is taken now). Team Fortress 2 is vastly different because if everyone wants to be Scout then everyone can be Scout.
Personally I prefer it as is so that the only difference is the player.Mature-Gamers.com
