2142 Questions

Ok, I am going to expand my horizons, and try my hand at 2142. I have a few questions though.

1. Which patch do I need to install, 1.2 or 1.25? I read the stickies and it mentioned 1.2, but EA suggests 1.25.

2. What maps do I need to DL?

3. Any other tips before I jump in?

I'm pretty sure it is the 1.25 patch.

Need to get the northern strike maps which I believe is $9.99 on EA's website.

you'll want the latest patch. your EA link will let you know the latest one.

the northern strike add-on will allow you to play all the maps. there are 3 maps in rotation that will kick you from the server if you don't have it installed. there are no particular maps that you need to download that don't come with the game or NS.

one thing you will need to know is that the installation is jacked up for NS. you will need to install the latest patch, then install NS, then re-install the latest patch.

Braddoc has it right about how you'll want to patch it. Though, I think you should make sure you enjoy the game before investing in the expansion.

Just make sure whatever patch you grab is the most recent non-beta patch. There is a beta patch out there and if you install it you will not be able to play here.

The stickies are old, you want 1.25.

If you get NS, you gotta install 2142, then 1.25, then NS, then 1.25 again. Otherwise just 2142 then 1.25 and you'll be good to go.

Just be sure to squad up with some regs and you'll do fine. I moved from BF2 to 2142 quite easily, so you should do the same. It plays fairly similar at roots, there's just some new shit to get used to.

On more question.

Do I need to create a new account for 2142, or use my bf2 login? I assumed create a new one since it is a different game, but when I try to use my bf2 SN it says it already exists. When I search for my SN on the 2142 stats page it says it does not exist.

Help please!!
