You don't need a disc to reinstall, you can still download it again from Steam.

You can go into your Windows control panel, and remove it under Add/Remove Programs. Then when you run Steam, you can reinstall it.

After all this time, I still can't play it. I deleted it from my computer, but the game is still located under my Steam games section, where it is says Left 4 Dead - Download paused. Trying to resume the update doesn't seem to work. I ran the defragmenter on my computer and with the properities under Steam.

When you deleted it, did you do it from Steam or from your Windows Control Panel? What happens if you try to delete local content in Steam?

When I couldn't delete it from Steam, I deleted it from Windows. When I try to delete the local content in Steam, a message appears that says "Steam - Error: You do not have enough disk space available to run this game. Please free up some disk space and then try again."

You can try using Windows Explorer, and navigate to the left 4 dead folder under Steam and actually delete that folder so it is completely gone from your system, then try to dl it again.

I finally got the game to work. Apparently there were 3 straggling files left in the Steam folder and deleting them fixed the problem. Thank you so much for the help.
