Yes, it's true. It is actually possible (though, considerably harder!)

Back story: So I tried this achievement with some friends online, but some guy got bored and starting shooting around the Jesus room and acidentally friendly fired on Left4Legend. Thanks to Left4Legend for trying to help me out, but the OTHER guy choked and ruined it! LOL

THEN I tried alone and thought I would be able to kill the bots and then call the rescue and hide out in the Jesus Room alone. Nope. Apparently when you call the rescue, EVEN if all the bots are dead and you don't rescue them, they will magically appear once you summon rescue.


So here's how I finally got the achievement- bots and all.

Dead Air on easy. Stand directly to the right of the plane, parallel to the nose, where there is a fence and a rope blocking you from going on. You will have your back to the fence, so you will mostly have to focus on the 180 degree area in front of you and won't have to worry too much about what's behind you. SOME common infected WILL come from behind you in the out of bounds area, but no more than like 3 at a time, so they're easy pickings. I would suggest playing as Zoey and using the assault rifle (because Bot ZOey always picks up the lame hunting rifle, so by playing her you can pick up any other weapon). You can use the auto shotgun if you want, but it is easier to accidentally shoot a teammate with the shotgun. I'd say don't risk it and use the assault rifle.

Being so close to the plane, you can also run back for ammo without incident in between hordes!

Usually the tanks will spawn on the OTHER side of the plane (the left of it). When the horde dies down and you know the tank is coming, I would suggest hugging the right side of the plane, because for some reason the tank doesn't come AROUND the plane, he'll just try to go through it, which allows you to shoot his feet and arms UNDERNEATH the plane until he dies. This way you can avoid his rock throws, too.

HOWEVER, sometimes the tank WILL spawn in the out of bounds area behind you. In this case, run quickly to him and began shooting him to get his attention on you (the bots SUCK at dodging rock throws). From this you'll have to run and avoid his punches and rock throws. The tank only spawned here a few times, but it messed me up so be aware. If you set it on easy, you shouldn't have that much trouble taking him down.

No hunters or smokers ever spawn behind you, so don't worry about being snagged from behind.

When the plane comes, throw a pipe bomb or molotov (make sure the molotov is NOT in the path to the plane, or close to the plane at all- literal friendly fire WILL ruin this achievement) and get on the plane.

There is another strategy where you run to the opposite side of the map and hide in the corner under a building. It works well for fighting off common infected, but it SUCKS with the tank. There's not a lot of room to dodge rocks if you have to. Also, when the plane is ready to go, you have to run a long way to get back to it, risking getting attacked.

The sitting along the fence tactic makes it so that you have a limited area to watch AND you are VERY close to the plane door when it opens.

P.s. DON'T get discouraged if it takes you a few times. It took me FOREVER because of little random incidents (tank rock throw hit a teammate, I acidentally shot a propane tank next to a bot, etc.). Just keep at it, be careful and it's yours!

Nice. Yea, doing it with friends is WAAAY easier because they can actually dodge tank rocks and they will shoot the tank on the other side of the plane with you. Bots won't shoot under the plane at the tank.


I was going for untouchables with some friends, but for some reason, they all got the achievement but I GOT NOTHING!!!! So I did this with the bots the next day because none of them were online at the time. *sigh*

in the direction it takes off at, all the way back to the tape.
