Seriously? To become a zombie you first must become infected -- there is no difference.

# automaton: someone who acts or responds in a mechanical or apathetic way; "only an automaton wouldn't have noticed"
# several kinds of rum with fruit juice and usually apricot liqueur

Several definitions for the word zombie. The third applies to the infected people from the game. So they are BOTH zombies AND infected. It even says so on the box of the game!
