Thread: Leader or Follower?

Amen..... once I started taking the commander role, I started getting gold medals a lot more frequently.
When the squads are doing as directed, at least on conquest maps, they really bunch up the enemy into nice neat little packages that are great for orbitals so I can get some kills in also.
I just need to keep working on talking to a single squad at a time and reducing the chatter to the other squads.

Re: Leader or Follower?
I like being squad leader or squad member, but commander is just one of those jobs that I have done exactly once. It was good and bad at the same time. It was not on this server, but on one where voice chat seemed shoddy at best - and maybe that was the problem. I just have no desire to give direction at that level in this game, and prefer the more tactical position of squad leader. But maybe someday I would get to press that damned orbital button - just once.... Darned orbitals...

Re: Leader or Follower?
I've always been a slacker and my slacker ways follow me into my games. Its the way I've always thought: "Always take the path of least resistance." Never volunteer for anything and never do more than absolutely necessary. Doing otherwise involves too much effort.
That's not to say that I'm incapable of leading, just that leading when I don't have to is more trouble than its worth. Typically I end up taking squad leader late at night when the server is practically empty, but still I don't do that every time. Commander...you'd be lucky to see me taking that one for pretty much the same reasons. Its more effort than being a squad member and more effort than being a squad leader.
Just tell me where to point my gun and I'm off. Afterall, it takes more effort to respawn than it does to shoot the other guy. Just keep in mind that this is my own slacker philosophy talking here. Take the one about the laziest soldier for example and that would be me.
Laziest Soldier
A sergeant was addressing a squad of 20 and said: "I have a nice easy job for the laziest man here. Put up your hand if you are the laziest." 19 men raised their hands, and the sergeant asked the other man "why didn't you raise your hand?" The man replied: "Too much trouble, sarge."

Re: Leader or Follower?
I do them all where needed. I love all positions and do fairly well in all of them. Nothing better to see when you create a squad and it fills up in secs. Or when you become Commander and everyone is thanking you for taking the hot seat for awhile and everyone wants to do you well as well as themselves.
After 3 or so rounds being commander does get your trigger finger itchy as hell. Then ill just goto SL and take my crew from silo 1 to 4 in a flash, set up defense and wait for the enemy titan shield to go down.
I had a SL, a newb i guess, that i had commanded to attack the enemy titan. He informed me that he didnt know how to launch from the APC to get into the titan. I exsplained it to him as other SL listened. I wanted to laugh but i started thinking i was a newb once not long ago and didnt have the chance of someone exsplaining to me how to do things and didnt know about TTP.
Long story short, after i told him how, him and his crew went in the enemy titan, took care of buisness, and blasted the hobo mother ship outta the sky. I was proud of myself, there SL for asking, and keeping the TTP morals alive.

YES ! ! !
Investigater.... that is EXACTLY the kind of stuff I'd like to see more of around here. You get squad leaders trained up, feeling involved and feeling like they make a difference.
THAT is how TTP keeps growing. We are those shiny light houses guiding lost souls in from the dangerous waters out there.
