Thread: Laggy's SAAW stuff

That is a pretty wide open problem, so I'll start with basics. I don't know how much computer stuff you know, so I'll describe briefly and you can ask if you have questions on how to do something or all of it. Here are my steps:
1. Connect directly to your internet box (cable modem, dsl modem, etc) and try connecting to games. Might be a fire wall issue.
2. Turn off your firewall in windows and any other firewalls you may have going.
3. Verify your game data by right clicking the game in steam, going to properties, and find the menu that says "verify game cache integrity" or something like that.
4. Update L4D if you haven't with patches.
5. Tell me a bit more... can you play other online games? did the problem start after you added a firewall, new router, or any other specific thing you did to your computer? are you sure that the servers you are trying to get into allow connection from openserverbrowser?
6. type this in the console: connect 69.1.109.74:27048
If you can connect here (my server) it would lead me to suspect that it's something with the netcode within the game and possibly could be corrupt files. If you can't connect, it's more likely on your end, like a firewall, router configuration, bad cable modem, etc.

Please feel free to ask how to do any of these things. I'd be happy to help as long as you respond and try the things I'm asking you to try

but if you use the lobby to play online, it will only pickup non-modded servers, just basic dry servers. and you can't tell how many are playing nor the server ping.

if I use openserverbrowser to find games, there are tons as you can see... but it all times out giving 0.0.0.0

I think the game is trying to force users to use game lobby system only instead of steam browser.

So how are you guys playing modded server? do you indivisually search for the modded servers and "connect ip"?

Try deleting your ClientRegistry.Blob file and let it recreate.

I know many servers are lobby connect only, so that is why I was wondering if you could connect directly to my servers. You don't have to stay or anything, but that might tell us that it won't allow you to connect.
