    Question Meeling hunter pounce's

hi ppl, I have some doubts about how to melee a hunter's pounce in versus mode, I know the basic: melee it 1-2 seconds (I think) before the hunter touches you and he will get a nose broked.
what I don't understand is why sometimes I can melee a hunter pressing the button 1 second or less (usually in the middle of a short jump) and there are times that it doesn't work?
I would be glad if someone tell me precisely what is the exact "rule" to melee a hunter's pounce in VS.
    thanks ;*

Honestly, it is something you develop. That reaction time to a hunter pounce is what seperates the good players from the noobies, and nothing can teach you how to react with a hunter.

Best advice I can give would be locate the hunter, obviously facing it and don't shoot right away (Especially versus!). Wait for the pounce and either shoot then melee or just time the melee as best as possible. Practice in campaign mode and Survival is like training mode for ANY special infected, constant waves of them and you can figure it out pretty quick.

no man I'm far from being a newbie in this game xD, I know exactly how to defend a high pounce but I just wanted to figure out some things that was not clear.
I noticed with that video that you can melee a hunter in two ways:
    1. Hitting straight in the hitboxes.
    2. Using the "after hit" effect that the melee does and have duration of 2 seconds or less after meleeing. Allowing you score a melee by pressing it earlier than the 1. option.

And the more interesting is that you can really differ what kind of melee you did, if it has a sound of impact when it touches the hunter it is 1. and when it has no sound at all you did 2. xD
thanks by helping me to figure this out (:

There is no real golden rule to be honest - but what a lot of PC players do is shoot once or twice with the shotgun then melee immediately right after. This way you'll either jumpshot him or get lucky and melee him.

It's not a reliable way of countering a hunters pounce, because there is none, the only tip I'd suggest is meleeing the hunter right before when you think it's going to be a good time. Ie: basically just melee earlier than you normally would.

And the reason some are more easier than others IMO is because the faster/longer you drop, the more the hunter's hitboxes moves foward, making it hard to judge for a good time to melee that covers short pounces and high damage pounces.
