PC games recommendations
Hey everyone^^. Awhile back on the day of my birthday I got the Studio XPS PC. I was mostly going to use use it to play World of Warcraft but.....
I've become quite bored with it and have decided to quit lol. Now having a gaming PC is a new thing for me so thus, I have never played any games on one.
So I'm mostly just asking for help on what you people usually play. I mostly go for shooters and RPGs, and I'm also considering getting LFD2 for my PC as well even though I already have it on the Xbox360.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions that come through^^.

L4D and L4D2 are the obvious ones.
Get the Orange Box through Steam, which is Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, Portal and another game, depending on your video card. I got Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, but I think Deathmatch is also avaliable, for about £15. It's one of the, if not THE, best deal in gaming history.
If you enjoy Half-Life 2, you'll want to pick up Half-Life and play through that. It runs perfectly on my PC, even with the HD pack installed so yeah, no problems for you there. If you enjoy THAT there are plenty of different DLC packs, expansions whatever, such as Blue Shift and Opposing Force.
I have a really bad PC and these run fine for me so they're BOUND to run for you. Also, Killing Floor is another if you enjoy L4D. It's similar in some ways, but it's less co-opy (nothing is as co-opy as L4D) but a lot scarier, so you may like that.
Shattered Horizons looks good, if your PC can run it. I'm not entirely sure, but you may want to check that out as well. It's zero-gravity MMOFPS set in space, so fighting from all angles.
If you want a bit of RPG, Mass Effect, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Jade Empire and Dragon Age: Origins are the way to go. All made by the best Western RPG makers, BioWare. I'm a bit of a fanboy though, so GO BUY THEM. Dragon Age: Origins has been heralded as one of the biggest games ever, around 60 Hours in one playthrough and the expansive worlds you play in, if the reviews and friends are correct, will keep you for another good number of hours. You could also try Fallout 3 and Borderlands if you want more FPS, but those also are RPG's as well, as if you've seen any of Borderlands' ads you should know .
Plants Vs. Zombies is a fun little game which can run on pretty much any PC. It's nothing 3D or fancy, just good old fashioned Tower Defence, but my god for £6 you can't go wrong.
Just had a look on Steam, this weekend Tomb Raider: Underworld is £4.99. You may want to pick that up if it's anything like Legends.I'm an idiot and I can't follow directions. So now I'm also banned.

What Joe said. You'll have hours of fun with the Orange Box, especially Team Fortress 2 and Portal. A few other games are...
Garry's Mod
You'll need one of the Source games to play it, so Half Life 2 or one of it's episodes, or anything else with the word 'Source' in the title e.g Day of Defeat: Source. Counter-Strike: Source. Yadda yadda. But it'll make you laugh and everything if you get it.
Sins of a Solar Empire
Takes a while to grasp the controls and what the feck is going on, but it's one of the most brilliant strategy games to hit the Earth. Who doesn't like creating your own faction from whatever and then going to conquer the whole galaxy?Whilst playing Penumbra...
Parlock: I CAN HEAR IT.
Dead Prodigy: HIDE.
Parlock: I AM.
Dead Prodigy: DON'T LET IT SMELL YOUR FEAR.
Parlock: IT DOESN'T NEED TO SMELL MY FEAR, I SHAT MYSELF.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Deus Ex:
A hybrid of Shooter and RPG (with a little stealth thrown in), set in 2052, where the world is in a state of decay, and terrorist organizations run around. The plot is deep, involving numerous conspiracies, with plenty of morality choices that aren't just good vs evil. Also it lets you play as you like, you don't even have to kill anyone to complete the game.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
