I've actually played Wake island with no vehicles.. Man was it interesting swimming from the carrier..

Actually, a boat race around Wake would be much better than a swimming race.

I do like the dropping mines idea / c4 drops . Have the following two cars racing each other while the pace car drops C4 or mines while swerving.

Also. One Helo in the center of the map. 1 car on each side of the map. The cars on the side of the map both race to the middle and then see who can shoot the chopper down first. The chopper is allowed to leave the area and the cars will have to chase him.

Shooting down choppers sounds great... While we're at it we could throw in a competetive round of human hunting, with one target in a set boundary chased by a large number of people all starting in a group... whoever gets the kill wins the challenge. For the sake of being sporting, perhaps the hunted individual could be armed with defibrulators, and medpacks.
