Has the excitement worn off?

I've seen the SF server pretty empty. Which begs the question, has the excitement of the new SF server already worn off?

Personally, it definitely has not. Last night, SpecOpsScott, Red Lizard, DoubleTap, and myself tried to prime the server for 30-45 minutes with no takers. I know some others tried it a little earlier in the night with the same results.

If the excitement has not worn off, what is it then? Are you busy with your real life? I realize a lot of folks are dealing with finals (ha ha), holiday preparations, etc. so that may be the problem. However, what I believe it to be is that people just rather join the vanilla server and rack up instant points rather than put in the time to truly launch a server till it's self sustaining a la Vanilla.

What are your thoughts?

Personally for me it is finals time. I was telling Commander after Christmas I will nearly be a 24/7 player with maybe 3 hrs of sleep here and there.

Also, 30-45 minutes thats nothing. I'd jump on there at 3PM est and the games would start about 4:30-5:00. I sometimes jump on the server just to get a body in there and then get kicked when I go idle once the server goes live.

Keep trying is all I got to say. I think RL has just gotten busy for everyone.

Yeah, a whole lot of people (myself included) have final exams right now, which unfortunately often take priority over fun in the SF server.

Word of mouth is key. So join the main vanilla server, then start tellign those guys that you squad up with that we have a SF server. Just play for a round or two, and see if they want to jump over and play that.

The server will likely always need to be primed. That's just the nature of the server. But you can accomplish that with some patience.

Keep up the good work guys.

Re: Has the excitement worn off?

I certainly hope not. This was an early Christmas present to the TTP community and hopefully it won't be one that get's returned before Christmas.

I do have a request and no I'm not looking to start a big "one-side stacking" thread as 98.21% of the time it doesn't bother me. However, several days ago the server had around 20 people per side and going strong. The server was stacked (wins around 180 to 200 plus for at least 4 maps straight that I was on) - one side very heavily weighted with regulars and other side just small handful of regulars and what looked to be new players to TTP.

I know we enjoy squading up with people we know on the vanilla server, which is perfectly fine, but this server is completely different. Those that do not know this community quickly disbanded and what was beginning to be a strong night in numbers quickly died. I doubt those players will be back. My request is that until this server gets going strong in numbers, please be aware of "stacking" and help the new players to TTP learn what I have come to learn in my short time here that there is no better server for team play.

My game time will be down big time until the new year.

I am all for for SF. I like Ranger's idea about just telling some people in Vanilla that after the round is over to jump in SF. I would switch over no problem.

Lately when I go to SF it is less than 10 people total and because of that the rounds are long I maybe only get 2 rounds in before I need to bail out.

I think most people are waiting on someone else to get it going. We had 4 guys hop on at 10:30 tonight, which is a little late for prime time, but it got to 12 real quick. Nobody wants to be the first, but if you get 5-6 you can fill it up quickly.

Look at all of the other servers on the left side area. <<<<<
Many of them are seeing slightly less traffic than normal. Last night it was primetime for BF2 and it only had 40-some people on it instead of 60. I think that people are just really busy right now.

One word. Tampa. I was in the main server most of the night, and it only dropped to that time when Tampa was on.

Everyone gets busy during Christmas. That's the way its always been. It'll pass soon enough.
