The creatures in 28 Days Later are not zombies, as they are alive when infected. A dead body in 28DL does not reanimate.

Are we talking 'zombies' or 'infected'?

But the rules in Romero's films (which are the reason why all these films/books/games are made) are that the zombie continues to fight until a. it is killed by a headshot or severing the head (kill the brain and you kill the zombie), b. is set on fire until nothing left, or c. rots over time so that it cannot be mobile.

A zombie in Romero's films can not digest food, as it is dead and their stomach cannot break it down. It acts on instinct only. The need to eat and survive. Post-life memories, etc.

Of course the 'infected' in 28DL are not unlike zombies, hence the remake of Dawn of the Dead in 2004, and Left 4 Dead, which both draw heavy from it.

Well, according to my research, the Infected are just like the Crazies from 28 Days Later and its sequel; still alive, but no longer human. With that in mind, I'd imagine that the CIs would become too weak to move, and soon they'd die...then again, I've never seen the CIs try to eat anything, so, maybe, their metabolism's been mutated to such a point that they require very little food, or maybe they've gained a form a photosynthesis, or something like that, thus eliminating the need for food altogether. As for SIs, the Boomer's about the only one I can think of that wouldn't need to eat, seeing as they pop at the drop of a hat.
If you can make it bleed, you can make it dead; nothing in our world is immortal.

Well... According To Marvel Zombies, the popular comic book series where Spiderman And Other Heroes Turned into Zombies... If you starve a Zombie, it loses its Hunger for Flesh. Allowing them to have an actual roll in society, so they become superheroes again...

Though L4D Zombies Don't seem that intelligent so they would just Die out...
