    Game Freezes At Loading Screen

This is a problem that I recently began having, say 3 days ago. I can load up my Left 4 Dead 2 game fine, get to the main menu and everything. I can join/host a game fine as well. However, when I get to the loading screen, the one that shows the poster of the campaign being played, my game freezes about 1/6 through the loading bar, and the icon in the top left corner with the "L" freezes as well.

Does anyone have any idea as to why this is happening?

I have already attempted to properly clean the disc, though not with a store bought kit, but the problem persists.

I am planning on buying a new L4D2 if I can't find a solution, as the game isn't as much as it used to cost, but I'd like to find out whether or not I can fix said problem beforehand.

Have you installed the game to the hard drive?

    Yes, I have.
I ran through my options and did that to hopefully eliminate the problem. However, even after the installation to my Hard Drive, the problem continues =/

Rent the game from a rental store, and make sure the disc isnt worse off. If it plays fine, then just put your disc back in with their case and ship it off back. If it doesnt, it may be a memory corruption or xbox error.

    Great idea xD
My friend actually mentioned that he did that once with another game, but I never thought about doing it to check a problem.

I'll have to try that soon. Thanks =o

I have had this exact same problem but it is NOT your L4D2 disk but I think some form of corruption on your hard drive. However I've still not found a solution

My Xbox also freezes on the loading screen - about 20% of the way through as the individual mission loads. It doesnt matter which story it is or whether its installed to the HD or not, or whether you play single/Campaign/Verses. Even a different L4D2 disk makes no difference.

However, when I removed my HD from the top of my xbox it worked ok (although single player only obvioulsy as no XB live).

I've deleted EVERY L4D2 things from my XBox HD via the XBOX system menu option (including The passing and all game/profile info) but it makes no difference - however there's clearly still some L4D2 stuff left on the HD as a reinstall doesnt prompt an update to the latest version of L4D2. Unfortunately I dont know how to clear EVERYTHING to do with L4D2 off the HD via the XBox's limited system menu functions.

So short of buying a new Xbox HD I'm struggling to find a solution

    Cheers

    Jez

Delete all traces, and clear the cache. That will ditch the updates.

Thanks. I tried this last night following some advice on the Steam Forum and it worked - everything is fine now.

To the uninitiated ts just a case of going to the System Blade, then selecting Memory then selecting your HD AND PRESSING "Y" (not X) - when then allows you to to Clear the Cache

    Cheers
