According to the developers webpage, the project is still going just very slowly. They are working around some glitches and should have something together next year for testing.

I read the same thing. Digging deeper the 'glitches' are because of DICE's lack of formal support for modders. The BF2 racing mod is actually quite fun. I played it ages ago when it first came out.

I havnt had a chance to look at highway tampa so I havent made any progress but w/e.

Pretty much everyone else than you Frag has played Tampa plenty of times to know the lay out. Tampa's got a lot of space, some tight areas too, so a good race course could be set up real easily. In addition there are cars galore on that map. If we can get approval for this on the match server, this'll be real nice.
