How would an AA only squad fare?

I think warflagon or someone was camping the aa earlier on wake when they caped a flag and were usmc.. Man that was a sad day for them

they got bombed all the way back to iraq! I think only got hit once ;/

I definitely agree this tactic could slow down an enemy air assault by having all AA positions manned. Still, in my case, its been hard to keep squad members in these positions, they tend to get bored quite easily, just waiting for the enemy jets to fly by.

I actually have heard this same thing before. Merc4target was nice enough to give me a mini lesson one night, when I squadded with him, on how to be a better gunner and how to improve my chances of shooting down a plane with AA.
Personally, I feel more confident going ground AA against Helos than I do against planes or at least I have been a little more successful anyway.
I think an all AA squad could work on Wake Island. The SL would have to be close enough to the AA for his squad to man the posts quickly, and far enough away so that he wouldn't be blown up in a bomb attack.

IMO, it's hard to keep these positions manned because great pilots shoot the AA gunner out of the seats/locations far beyond visible range of the weapon, then blast all remaining Armor, then drop their bombs on these locations to make sure that all stragglers, trees, grass, etc are completely destroyed.

These great pilots then go and harrass the next AA position, and are aware of the timing in the regeneration of these AA post (and all their spawn point locations), and then return for another round.

I agree, I've had better success in regards to Helo defense on the AA.

I think depending on who the enemy pilots are, that there could be benifits to having a dedicated AA squad.... but if Target, Ranger10, Manno, Reiskis, chosen, etc.... are on the opposing side, then your just going to get OWNED!
