Mine Bait for Politics
Looking back at my first postings here on TTP, some eight or nine months and nearly two hundred posts ago, I realize how far I have come in understanding the way that this community works. Having no other experience with online gaming before that, it has not been easy to keep my mouth from overiding my brain... especially when it comes to politics. Some posts are like those flat pancake mines, you step on them and find yourself frozen like a deer in the headlights while everthing around you explodes, and you get shot to pieces. Others are like the roller mines, they follow you as you roll by and blow you to peices. Sometimes in the middle of a post you step on one of those recon mines... well, you get the picture.
One thing that attracted me to this community, and that made it different from other forums, is that it focused on the game and generally left the childish ranting and political agendas alone. Those posts that want political opinions are ugly traps, and they just seem to create hard feelings, and they don't really change any opinions. You find yourself making judgements that are not based on gameplay, which dilutes the positive experience of the community. Best to just avoid them, if only I could take my own advice.... what we need is some political mine bait :3
