    Tid-bit 01.14.08 Armor

Alright, this is just my thinking, and should be taken with a cold beer or two:

In regards to Armor and flags. Consideration should be taken when moving in on a flag when in possession of Armor. Keep this in mind, Jet pilots and chopper pilots are hunting you down.

So, if you have a situation where there are many friendly attempting to take a flag, DO NOT move in on the flag with the Armor, but instead provide support from the perimeter. Let the soldiers on foot acquire the flag. When the Jet pilot spots you, he's firing missiles and dropping bombs, blowing up you and EVERYTHING around you.

There are always situations where there are not enough friendly to take a flag fast enough which will require you to move in. Move in at the perimeter of the flag zone but not ON the flag and try to refrain from using the smoke screen in these areas. NEVER give up the vehicle, until you hear warning sirens. Some sneaky bastard like myself (and others who will remain anonymous), will hope in that armor and kill EVERYONE in that area, all in about 3 seconds.

The premise is to move the blast zone of exploding Armor, further away from the unprotected friendly troops on the ground; working together to accomplish the goal.

I'm not to sure about that. When I'm flying, I pay close attention to the changing of flags and bring up my map to see which one is gray and head straight there. Sometimes, I don't have bombs and sometimes, I don't hit the armor with both bombs and it lives for another pass. This usually gives the armor just enough time to take the flag.

If it were souly infantry, I would kill them all and the flag would not be taken. This has happened on more than one occassion.

Maybe the armor should role in and get right on the flag. Let infantry lay on the outlaying portion of the flag at the futherest point so they can move out when a plane comes to bomb or artillery hits. They can also pick off the infantry who are throwing nades and shooting rockets at the armor.

    Just my thoughts.

The main point is graying out the flag. To many times, a squad rolls into a flag to only let 2 or 3 of the infantry try to capture the flag while the others run around.

I say, run in there and gray out the flag. Take positions away from the flag at a good distance from the flag but in the area where you can change the flag. Watch spawn points and for nades. As soon as the flag is gray, let a few people from your squad go out and kill the remaining enemy and then finish capping the flag. After you cap the flag, make a full sweep of the area before moving out. There could be a sniper hiding just waiting for you to leave so he can go back in and recap the flag moments after you head out.

Interesting pointof view; exact opposite of what I was considering.

Normally, I am the guy at the perimeter of the flag killing the enemy, letting the other 5+ guys get the flag. And what I was seeing was a shit loads of Ground Pounders getting blasted while near friendly Armor while on the flag. So I have been thinking about this Idea and have implemented it personally many times. I've refrained from entering too close to friendly while overtaking a flag, sat back and BLAST the approaching enemy/Armor and let the friendly on the flag do their jobs.

I though it worked well; however I can see the advantages and have implemented myself the ol' Armor rushing of the flag, overtaking it in meare seconds and moving on to the next. You are correct, as this is the Ideal situation.

I think the key is to get everyone in the squad SPREAD OUT in the flag zone including the tank. Remember all the flags have a decent size flag zone to allow everyone to spread out some.Too many times everyone is tight together and the arty, jet, helo, or well placed nade takes everyone out. The more bodies on the flag, the faster it will turn. RV makes a good point though, if you are a ground pounder don't lay next to the tank on the flag.

Really, as long as the whole squad works together either would work great... the armor could act as a spotter too...
