All you have to do is go into the game, click options, controls and bind the controls to your peripherals. Takes a while to tweak and get all nice and perfectamente, but it is definitely worth it.

I set up my steering wheel and pedals to maneuver the tank and used a secondary program to bind the attack 3 joystick to my mouse. I now have an absolutely fantastic platform for tank driving. I spent most of the afternoon/evening perfecting the sensitivity and other features in 5 ton trucks (Because they've made it so you can't train in armour alone.) Then I taught some gunnery lessons to a guy I met randomly on an empty server and practiced driving while designating targets and spotting for a gunner. At the end of the day, I took my new setup to Quinling where I Tanked against Knappe Bonklers, one of the finest tankers I've ever played against. He and (I'd assume it was his squad) gave us a real run for our money, but the squad I was in finally prevailed. The population died towards the end, but here's the final score sheet!

The peripherals are fantastic, driving a tank is now very, very realistic and much more natural than mouse/keyboard. Can't do gunnery with a joystick yet, will practice but I think that for that at least, the mouse might be superior.

Oh ya, and mad props to my gunner/final SL Captain Morganan and the rest of the members in the squad whose names I cannot recall. That was fantastic work lads, we came, we saw and we crushed beneath our treads.

I'm glad to see we won the round. I lost my internet connection completely shortly before the end and could not reconnect to anything internet related.

Kudos to Atrovenator for the awesome steering setup. We were squadded up last night on Zatar and then on Kashan in some very intense armor battles and he steered us to victory. The other guys in the squad on Kashan were Slytherin and Knappe Bonklers and a rotating engi. At one point we were tracked and the turret was busted with an Abrams closing in. We're frantically calling for help after bailing out of our useless tank. Any second I expected to see the Abrams, followed by a brief burst of coaxial fire and then the sky, when Knappe and Sly roll in from the south, over the hill, and toast the Abrams. The engi moved up in a command truck and got us rolling again. We proceeded to smoke several more Abrams and a Blackhawk before I logged off. Great game!

You excluded the best part of that firefight. Directly after we got rolling, I was oriented in the wrong direction and when I started us moving, I took us out of bounds. We wound up bleeding, on the edge of the map and the other crew had to get out to give us there bandages. Two tanks parked side by side and totally unmanned. Even the gunners had to get out. While I'm apologizing profusely for the inconvenience an Abrahms sneaks over the northeastern ridgeline. We see it and scramble back into the tanks (I think the abrahms swiched to HEI and then back because he hesitated a moment and just sprayed coaxial. Back in our tanks, I watched as Tank 2 (with Knappe and Slytherin) took a glancing hit off the front armour. I shouted 'I'll take the next one.' And drove into position in front of them, absorbing the next shot on our frontal oblique. At this moment, the guns on both tanks went live and we turned the Abrahms into smoking ruin. Whee.

One of my friends asked whether it was possible for one tank to drive in front of another, and the answer is: yes, one tank can pull ahead in combat to create a shield for a badly damaged tank. The driver of the shield just has to be careful not to block the damaged vehicle's gunner.

Wasn't this also the round we got to see a JDAM go off?

A problem with this was that if I ever opened the Controls tab in-games, all of my customization was shot. You'll just need to figure out the name of the axes and manually assign them in the .con. I don't remember all the details - this was like 5 years ago, but it should be do-able.

1.Try makeing it a read only file...

2.sometimes making more than one con file works too.... so at the bottum of the 1st have a line exce config2.con, put all your item you don't want to change here. so let's say you change your in game config via the menu, it will change, run to the buttom of that file, switch to the next and change it back. i used this is CS so admin couldn't change things like my name to "lammer", or mouse sensitive ........but i think i had 4 of 5 con files for CS lol, with ingame force change, never really used that (one force file was my main, desert eagle rushs and scout), 2 force file was ( ak and m4a3, headshots from 2miles away )
