    Re: LLLAAAGGG

The server provider could have TTP's instance of BF2 running alongside another 64 bf2 instance. Maybe request to be moved to a server that is less used since TTP's server is full most of the day. I've seen this happen before when providers try to put to much on one box to save resources and money.

Also, BF2 was never built to mandate internet speeds. I would suggest that BF2 regulars set their internet speed to the section right below lan speed. This should be able to be controlled by the server like Counter-Strike but it can not be. Its up to the end users to be honest with their internet speed settings. Trust, it won't hurt your connection to run it at cable/dsl, it will only help the community as a whole. Even if you are running on something faster than 1meg up/1meg down (T1), set your internet setting to cable/dsl. Note that most DSL and Cable services offer up to 6+ megs down and some right at a meg up.

What is the VoIPQuality setting set to on the server? Since TTP encourages communication, a lot of people user their mic's on TTP. The default server setting for VoIPQuality is 3 for an internet server and 5 for a lan server. The admins might want to try to decrease the VoIPQuality to 2 to see if it might help with some lag.

Check to see if your provider has any way to throttle client bandwidth and also check your punkbuster client bandwidth settings.

In all seriousness all, there have been major ISP / routing issues with ATT & Qwest over the last 48 hours. Here are a couple of links to check latency with various ISP's and peering points:

    http://internetpulse.net/

    http://stat.qwest.net/statqwest/perfRptIndex.jsp

    http://ipnetwork.bgtmo.ip.att.net/pw...formance.shtml

What is interesting, ATT & Qwest didn't have the stats for their links updated that matched internetpulse...makes you wonder but none the less, there is major discussion about outages on the North American Network Operators Group list.

I was also having problems with the SF server many times last night, couldnt get on or was being kicked because of lost connection. The Vannila server I noticed had the same thing happen once or so becuase it was full then like 2 people were on. Also Specopsscotts lag was pretty bad with a ping above 200.

    ?

TTP hasn't used a "shared" server in nearly 3 years. We are the only instances on our boxes (thus why they are so expensive).

    Re: LLLAAAGGG

While in game, I've seen a number of folks typing "laaaaagggg" and then launching into a diatribe of how much lag sucks ... some even blaming it on the TTP server.

While I don't doubt that they are experiencing lag, I can say that I did not experience lag and to the best of my recollection haven't experienced any lag. At least, I know that before, during, and after these guys made the tremendous effort of typing "laaaaggg," I experience no lag. I suspect that for a great many of those experiencing lag, they should take another look at their ISP or their hardware for answers.

Again, I am certain these folks are experiencing lag. However, since I know I do not experience lag and play on the same (TTP) server, I have really no choice but to think the issue is on their end.
My goal is to succeed in any mission - and live to succeed again.
God grant that I may not be found wanting, that I will not fail this sacred trust.

    "bite my shiny metal ...!"

    there are many other servers
... NONE like TPG, the epicenter of team play!

Sorry but you have never seen me type "laaaaggg", maybe "FUCKIN LAG!!" or something to that effect but not "laaaaggg". While I have typed that and I have seen many others do the same I can not recall anyone stating that they blame TTP. Have you ever stubbed your toe and exclaimed "FUCK...DAMMIT...SHIT!!!"? It is the same reaction that the people having lag have. We are frustrated.

Tremendous effort? Are you out of your mind...haha. As for checking with our ISP, you are right. Most of the problems are probably there but it still does not eliminate frustration.

On a side note, it seems that there is a problem with Heart of Texas, Road Runner service. I talked with a technician and he said that there was some repairs being made in Austin. I hope they fix this by tomorrow because I am on leave next week and I planned on some serious gaming.

    Re: LLLAAAGGG

Today on the BF2 server there was a huge lag spike and had the disconnected message for about 4 seconds. I confirmed this with the rest of my squad mates and they all felt the same thing. I thought it was me at first but it wasn't.
Crazy stuff, i doubt it was TTP ends but who really knows. Hell last night my cable modem couldn't connect to my ISP for about AN hour... called up tech at my isp and they reported no problems which is bull shit... but still. The internet is self destructing i swear :5

lol... this weekend I had a lag spike that caused me to miss with the shock paddles of all things... my target backed up and shot me in the side of the head....The rest of my day seemed to round out about like that.
