I saw you too buddy, and I'm sure you blew our tank up a couple of times, but we'll never know.

I have to admit, any of the points I aquired last night, are a DIRECT result of the awesome skills by my Tank Gunner! His name was NOOB.... (I dont remember his whole name, you guys know him). Due to his excellent shooting and commanding of the tank itself, we were able to blown up many enemy and die FEW times. I owe it all to the Squad.

In PR, I truly am nothing without my Squadmates.

    Re: Full Server!

I must admit, the one element I miss in PR is being able to see who you killed and who killed you. I'm sure they do this so you can never be really sure if you killed that guy that crawled away behind a rock and give up your guard - you have to go after him and see his dead body before you can be sure thedanger is over.

    RV - I'm glad you're enjoying PR.

Oh, I know it, as I had to keep clicking on the server name to refresh it untill I saw 59, so I could rapidly hit the Join button to make it in.
    Did someone say reserved slot?
haha I already dropped 60 bucks for a year long slot on vanilla.. as much as I'd love to, I can't really afford to drop another 60 on PR

Bills and rent comes first, it's the way of things... :3

Redemption "is too old for this shit!" - video games

This may sound more like a rant and I'm not sure if it belongs in the video game section but I dont think it does.

Is anyone else having trouble to get excited for new video games anymore?

I don't know what it is, but lately in the last year or two - I just have not been excited for a single game. I'm scrolling through "can you run it" and steam store, trying to find a single game to download/buy and I just can't find a damn thing that even remotely interests me. In fact, the only games that I do want to buy, are games I've already beaten. Like Hitman, Chaos Theory, Deus Ex.

I'm not sure if the quality of video games are declining/getting "mainstreamed", or if I'm just getting old and losing my tastes for video games. Which is kind of depressing ha

My only hope is Battlefield 3, but I'd only be able to get it for the xbox and I know they'll gimp that version so it's only 12v12.

Anyone else finding the older they get, the less excited they are getting?

I think its more the fact that known series are getting old, and new series have not been established. CoD, Halo, and everything else recgonizeable has been around forever and done to death. Everything new coming out is not exactly new, just ripping off other aspects of other games.

Personally I just never get excited for new games. I wait till I play them to know if I should be interested. The last 2 games I bought new were Left 4 Dead, and Left 4 Dead 2. And by now I regret buying 2.

Yeah, I noticed that. It's nothing but sequels and franchises now. And they're turning into what use to be great franchises into these bland games. (I'm looking at you ubisoft).

To quote someone: "I'm of two minds when it comes to certain revelations about the game industry. Bobby Kotick is a perfect example of the increasingly conflicted position I find myself in. He has routinely said things like "the goal I had...was to take all the fun out of making video games." He has cancelled innovative game IPs on the basis that they didn't have long term franchise potential."

I really hope its that - otherwise I'll be a little depressed if I actually stopped caring about video games. I miss having that excitement of a new game.

I understand what you mean. I used to be excited to the point that I couldn't sleep, and couldn't wait to wake up at 7 am to go out and buy it.

But now it's just like, "Yeah, I know it's out. Big fucking deal. I'll get it when I get it. It's not going anywhere. It can wait", when it used to be "OH MY GOD! I MUST HAVE IT NOW! WHY DIDN'T THEY MAKE THE RELEASE DAY WEEKS AGO?!!? DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDYYYYYYYY LET'S GO!"

    Something like that.

I still get excited, just not as much. "Oh, they're making a sequel. Cool. I wonder what I have to eat downstairs...." is about as excited as I get nowadays.

i dont think it's so much that your gettin' old i mean im going through the same thing with stuff nowadays i just feel like it's the fact that stuff is so mainstream and overdone and with whatever isn't usually sucks anyway

I remember the ps2/gamecube days where there was like ALWAYS a game for me personally that i was excited about. Kingdom hearts, Resident evil REmake/0, Final Fantasy X, SSBM just to name a few, while the newer generation of games have their unique qualities and everything, they just i dont know, i guess lack the true *feeling* games had back then, they just did things *right* and it didnt feel like they were trying to get that feeling down....

i mean for example Final Fantasy XIII(a game in development and tremendous hype for YEARS) was a big letdown for me cause i didnt understand wtf was going on at ALL(literally the wall of text loading screens told me more about the story then the actual game did -_-) and i didnt really feel attached to the characters plus i hated the gameplay (where 2 of your party members are bots and if the char your controlling dies even IF the two others can perfectly revive you it's GAME OVER >=0) everything just felt so forced and rehashed(Lightning=female cloud in some ways...) not only that but every character was nearly the same gameplay wise at some points...

where as in like Final Fantasy 9 i remember *every single character* and their individual stories......plus the gameplay might've been slow paced but the characters had diff. jobs and varying abilities for diversity, no team was the same, and the story in the game was freakin' amazing and interesting(IMO) and it's just things like that that games really lack nowadays, like everything is just bland as you said and uninteresting in one way or another...I mean you'd expect with these awesome systems there'd be MORE of these REALLY awesome games but ehh, the only game that i know of that really excited me AND delivered was probably Batman Arkham Asylum(again my opinion lol)

I can relate completely with what you're going through, I think I'm the same way now a days.

Like Kagato said, maturity is the main reason why new games have lost its luster and its not a bad thing at all. With the "the game can wait" mentality, you can give yourself time to do more important things like classes and jobs or give some more thought to the game you want to buy. Although the lack of excitement is the price, its a fair tradeoff. If you were excited and got the game on the release date, it wouldn't matter if you realized that the game isn't what you had hoped for and you just burned 60 bucks getting something that's not even that good.

TR's observation is also accurate, the games that had the highest demand in the past few years were sequels, with the exception of a small handful. Left 4 Dead, Borderlands, and MAYBE Fallout are fairly new to an extent. But older games like Halo, COD, and of course, the Mario series have been beaten far beyond death. That and the brand new games that other companies are releasing are almost immediately shadowed by the sequels of more popular games. Nobody's going to buy "Rage" or anything else when New Vegas is right around the corner.

I'm fine with losing the excitement for new games. So far it's helped me think about things before I buy them.
