50 minutes for a game? Maybe you're just well know around the XBox Live community as the worlds shittiest player and nobody wants to play with you. On RARE occasions it will sometimes take 10 minutes to fill a lobby... but 50? Again, that is beyond rare. 95% of the time we get a game going in a couple of minutes.

Why can't you "just start it early and let players join in?"

1) Survivors vs Bot infected is campaign. Versus is on normal difficulty which would make it SUPER EASY. That's a guaranteed 500/600 points to any team the is barely decent at the game. Even if one or two people join in it would matter than late.

2) What if nobody joins? It has been said over and over. AN ENTIRE TEAM OF BOT SURVIVORS IS STUPID. THEY CAN NOT ACT THE SAME WAY HUMANS DO. So then what? Return to lobby? Have fun with that.

3) Due to numbers 1 and 2, by the time the other team is full the score could easily look like 2100-744. So by the time that both teams are full and a 'real' match can begin, you've already locked up a win and only get to play half the match now.

When I am in a lobby that still hasn't filled for 5+ minutes I'll usually ask if everyone else doesn't mind starting it. Most will usually agree since they too have been waiting for a while.

Just suck it up and deal with it. This is never going to change.
