Re: joystick in plane
Joystick gives you much more flexibility in flying aircraft than the keyboard. My hat's off to those that can use a k/b and still fly decently. I too have the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro but don't fly that often because I don't like waiting around.
The thing that best helped me get up to speed was playing a few hours on Operation Clean Sweep in Co-op mode. Practice strafing with the gun...practice going to rear view after you drop your bombs so you can see where they land and improve your accuracy. Get the feel of the map and the boundaries so you're not constantly flying out of bounds and dieing. Practice evasive maneuvers like the double immelmann...some people call it the split S. Next, go to some unpopulated servers and get used to those maps too. From what i gather though, everyone (admin's included), need to have a cup of shut-the-$%^-up, take a few to chill... - Bunni

Re: joystick in plane
I am using the Saitek ST290 pro. Cheap (30 bucks) has a hat, 5 thumb buttons and a trigger, twist axis and throttle rudder.
I think that for flying jets, the throttle rudder and twist axis are especially useful. I have mapped my roll R/L to the twist axis. Stick also makes it way easier to turn tight and evade...
I dont know how Xav does so well on the damn keyboard. I cant fly a plane for sh!t without my stick...

Re: joystick in plane
I'm with ya there soy, I had the saitak joystick and the spring on it imo really sucked. I got the logitec and it works so much better. It doesn't stick or any thing. It responds much better for me then the other stick as well and that was the main reason I replaced it.
