I need help!

I downloaded the PR patch and now PR is acting up.

After I downloaded the new patch I clicked the PR icon it brings me up to a screen that told me telling me to Alt-F4 and then launch from Pr.exe and not from BF2.exe.

So I went into my BF2 folder and then mods, then Project Reality. After that I clicked the application "pr".

A box popped up and told me: bf2.exe does not exist. Please check your working directory!: The system cannot find the file specified.

So I was lost and confused, then I attempted to redownload only for when I clicked the desktop PR icon, it said the same thing, the screen never even popped up.

This time I deleted the icon then redownloaded the patch. Same thing except the PR icon now looks the icon that whenever you click it, it wants you to manually select the program to open it with. So now I'm forced to open BF2 then activate PR from the "Community" tab. Which isn't what they want I believe.

This may not seem like much but it gets really annoying very quickly. And for some eason it takes like 3 minutes to log my account in so it takes a while. Any help BESIDES REINSTALLING THE SEVEN HOUR DOWNLOAD (the whole Project Reality) would be apprieciated.

Bust, I had almost the same thing happen to me yesterday. I was playing PR for, I don't know, maybe 45 minutes and then I crashed to desktop. I immediately tried to reload the game and I got the same message: BF2.exe does not exist...(however I was having severe problems before this patch was even released). Last week, before my first windows/bf2 reinstall, I couldn't even load the game...It would start to load...go black...then go back to desktop.

I've reformated/reinstalled windows (and BF2/PR) twice this week. I can now load the game (BF2/PR) but once the game starts but I'm still crashing/freezing (loud squealing noises) and have to hit the power button to restart.

I'm actually still trying to work this out and when I'm done typing here, I'm going to order a new video card as I'm more and more convinced that it's the ONLY way I'm gonna fix it. Everything points to a video driver issue...but I've tried them all.

I don't really have any solutions, but I do have a question?

Are you by chance using windows XP and an ATI card?

There have been several people having this problem. I think it stems from when you are loading the patch. When you to the "TYPE" of installation you want you need to leave just as it is, "custom" I think. Do not do a "full" or what ever the third option is. One person I talked to actually had it create another folder for PR outside of the mod because of how they loaded it.

Unfortunately bust I think you are going to have to do a reinstall, but you need to delete all of you PR and the folders before you do. I know it sucks, but I believe this is the only way to fix it.

Before you do that give this a shot. Right click on your PR desk top icon and go to properties and make sure your target line look like this C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1
. If it doesn't change it to read this there. If that doesn't work see above the edit.

What I had to do was change the "Start In" for the PR shortcut to: "D:\Battlefield 2\" (my main directory for BF2). So far it's been working fine, aside from one time when it suddenly crashed to desktop with no warning.

I'm currently using XP Professional SP2. And I have a GeForce 8600 GT.

I actually did two things wrong then, I selected full install for the patch, then I unchecked "Make a desktop icon."

I'm not sure what you mean here, but here is what it says under Start In:"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\Battlefield 2"

And this is what it says under Target: "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

I think I'm just going to unfortunately uninstall PR and reinstall it.

Oh well, it's worth it I suppose.

Sorry for being irrelevant, but if you deleted the code "+fullscreen 1" you think you could run it in windowed mode?

As for your problem. ahh. Im runnin SP2.didnt even uninstall PR0.6 before 0.7. I have about 9 places I put all my PR/BF2 DL's so they are sorted.

Anyway...

I had to install BF2 twice and update it twice. but I partially removed it once somehow and I don't even remember doing it. BUT! The point of this sentence is to say that I installed PR like this.

Unzip>Install file.exe>Put in main BF2 folder (C:Prog File/Battlefield2/) And from there it intstalls>Put icon on desktop>Drag icon from there to where ever.
