    Laptop question.

I've been saving up and wanting to get a good gaming laptop, but to also do college work on it. I'm not that tech savvy, but my friend recommended me to get this laptop. It's a little pricy, but I have enough for it. All I'm wondering is if this laptop is worth the money? And would it be able to run most games on Steam? (L4D/L4D2, TF2, Crysis 1/2, etc)

Any help, feedback, comments are appreciated.

Laptops, as I've said many times before, are horrific for gaming. However, that one isn't terrible I wouldn't expect Crysis 1, but L4D1, 2 and Crysis 2 should probably be alright. The Processor MIGHT be a bit weak, I'm not sure if it's multicore or not. For the money, you could make a proper PC that waaaaaay outdoes that Laptop though.
I'm an idiot and I can't follow directions. So now I'm also banned.

Just FYI, my three year old store-bought laptop (£500-ish) runs L4D 1 and 2 just fine on medium settings. Not all non-gaming laptops are bad for gaming - just like desktops, it's simply a matter of picking the right machine for what you want to do.

That's a top of the range quad-core processor, it will definitely be fine. Laptops are fine for gaming, just more expensive and you need to buy a separate mouse (A must). You could get a desktop for cheaper, but I assume he needs a laptop for portability around the house or whatever, like I did.

That will definitely run most games with ease. I don't know whether it's a good deal though, I'm not too experienced with laptops that high-end.
