2142 top5 is now 2142 Titan

The top5 is doing great. Better than great. It's the best top5 server, and easiest new server launch we've probably ever had. Good job on the connections, guys.

The admins are always thinking, always discussing, always researching ways to improve TTP servers. Not just teamplay, but performance, stability, consistency, and playability. Because of this research, we did things like remove verdun from titan mode, since we proved and informed EA that commander UAV's could be used to destroy titan cores (trust me, it's true). We also reduced the player count for both servers, since we realized on titan mode, given the "map size" is hard set to be 48, forcing 64 players onto it conflicts with the servers reserved slot programming, and disables it. Obviously, that's unacceptable for our reservists, but also for admins who can't connect in an emergency when the server is full.

So now.......it's about stability. Crashes are a problem. globally....not just for us. Some have theorized that it is due to the different modes and code for changing between titan to conquest to assault to titan, etc. Some claim that having a titan only map list, or a conqquest only maplist is the solution.

So.......we're going to give that a shot. The admins and 2142 reservists voted overwhelmingly to change the top5 maplist into a Titan only. However, this titan only includes Bridge and Bavaria, as well as Highway Tampa in titan mode.

Hopefully, this will provide more maps and modes for people to get their 2142 fix. Hopefully, it will not create titan envy, or hate, and cause connection loss from either server. And of course, we'll be monitoring it.

Better to have popular, happy, periodically crashing servers than dead servers.

So, we've made the change. It might require the server to restart (aka crash), but it will happen today/tomorrow.

Cool, very very cool. I may not be a reservist, but I still think that this is a great idea. Titan mode is a very refreshing take after playing on Camp Gibraltar or Fall of Berlin all day. Just slowing down the pace, being able to die without losing tickets, defending the Titan (Laggy and his SAAW shooting us down). It's all a good change of pace from the Conquest maps.

Bridge as Titan? Sweet!
Tampa as Titan?? Double Sweet!!

sorry, had to vote no, cause i, and probaly others, don't have NS. I'll have to look into it now, since both servers have it, otherwise i get booted whenever a NS map comes up

It has non NS maps too. Aside from that you should get NS, it is a great investment! Just a simple 10 bucks. All those too lazy to spend 10 simple bucks should at least stop complaining.
