True fact of war: Don't run over ANY mines LOL.
But to have people trying to do their jobs protecting and killing would be severely curbed if FF was on. Who wants to plant clays or mines and have them take out your own team. Hence: Less people would put them out on the field - taking away from the protection of the bases and roads.
Luckily, this is just a game and the point of it is to make sure as many people as possible are just having some fun. Never fun to be TK'd
FF being On, defiantely changes the feel for the game, and it does require MUCH more coodination that normal. We (HRD} recently encountered FF ON in our recent tournament, and it was definately different that what we were accustomed too. But once you understand how to use the weapons, it becomes an essential part of the game play.

Probably not a good Idea for the general population (as has already been discovered and discussed in detail I'm sure), but interesting in smaller matches.

    Re: Friendly claymores and mines

I don't really mind FF on or off as long as I know. I'd hate to TK a friend thinking that FF was off when it was on. It is also a pain when a friendly drives over your mines and jumps out. Vehicle explodes giving you a TK and to top it off, they punish.

I myself need to remap that key that toggles the skull/crossbones symbol on and off. I moved it somewhere a while back and can't remember what it is. Now, half the time I'm dodging friendly mines because I can't tell if they'll explode or not. D'oh!

The only limitation I can think of off would be the amount of time it takes to set a claymore, mine, or C4. Sort of how it takes a few wrenches to remove a mine, perhaps having the same delay to set something would be nice. In that view, a sniper wouldn't be able to sprint toward a crowd of enemies, drop a claymore, and get a bunch quick kills.

The flipside is that it would be much more difficult to drop a mine/C4 behind any armor without getting killed. The time it might take to set that mine/C4 might be enough for the tank to back over you or away from the mine.

In terms of TKs, my biggest pet peeve (with the game I guess) is when you're on the Essex AA trying to give the jets and choppers some air cover so they can take off unharassed. J-10 flies by, strafes the blackhawk, and flies in the opposite direction the chopper's heading. By the time you get the lock-on tone, the J-10's a fair distance away from the chopper (safe you think), so you fire a few missiles. The J-10 drops some flares, and the missiles do an about-face, and fly all the way around to take out the smoking blackhawk. Tk, tk, tk, tk, tk, tk and probably a few punishes. Either a nice negative score or a kick for TKs. Grrr...

    Slow

lol been there ... done that blowing up BH with a full load gets a few heads (and fingers) turned your way.
But for the general use on this topic: I think FF being on makes the players more careful and therefore better players in the long run.
I like FF on and dont mind having to actually aim the PK while trying to kill an enemy in the middle of your own troops LOL. Spray and Pray doesn't make a good player
Heheh... They Didn't Even See Me... Woof!
