Ok, one of my freinds just got battlefield, but his computor is acting funny. when you put the disk in, the game or disk dosent show up. when you go to run, and type the stuff in, i says, "please insert a disk" the computors about 2 years old and its 2142 deluxe edition.

Tell your friend that there are several ways to troubleshoot this problem. Here are just a few remedies of mine:
1. Clean the read side of the disc, make sure there are no major scratches. Even a smudge is still enough to be misread.

2. Tell him to try the disc on your computer/another friends/another computer in the house.
A) If it works on a different cd drive, have him install that drive in his computer, and see if that works.

3. If none of the above, try driver updates.

4. If not ANY of the above, well, I've got nothing.

Try another CD in the drive, if that doesn't work then your drive is bad. If it does work try the CD in another computer, if that doesn't work you can assume that the CD is bad.

i had this with my 2142 disk once. The disk had a wicked scratch on it near the center of the disk. If i tried enough times the disk would be recognized by the Computer,but i eventually just got tired of it and bought a new one. If your friend just got this disk it could be something else.
