Re: I have never been...
I think Ninja is right. Too many 1 and 2 man squads will hurt you, and I saw plenty of that yesterday. That's at least partly from non-regulars checking out the server, which is a good thing. Also on a positive note, I saw a lot of regulars trying to get new players to join squads, even if unsuccessful at times.
What I've learned will also hurt, is inexperienced, or non-proficient players using important assets like jets and helos. I know this is a touchy subject, because everyone wants to have fun, play hard, and try new things. But these assets can do lots of damage in the right/wrong hands, and losing 6 rounds in a row by more than 100 pts (like my team did last night!) teaches more than just a bit of character, there are reasons it happens as posted above. This is another one.
You should realize at some point, when you've decided to command a jet and posted a whopping 6 kills/9 deaths in the first round, then managed to get your teams jet stolen in the 2nd (yes - a real example from last night), that maybe you should learn to become a pilot during off-peak hours, or on an empty server before hurting your team like that. I was ground pounding for several rounds with the squad last night trying to turn the tide, and we got shelled off the face of the earth, sometimes by our own jet with red letters telling us who was flying it... kudos to the other team for taking advantage, but not the way to win for my side.
I didn't try to get a jet or helo in those rounds, but I know someone that could've flown it did, and didn't get it because someone that should've been ground pounding with us instead, did. We got destroyed.

Very good posts people, very good.
Manno you´re definitely right man. One thing that should be addressed is just that: When the team is loosing badly, we need the assets of the team to be used by the most experienced people. The new guys, or people trying out new things should be conscientious enough to realize they will hurt the team by misusing these assets. There is a time and place for everything, and I think practice should be left to non-peak hours, as Manno said.

But we've been told in no uncertain terms by authority here that it is every players responsibility to become a complete player, and master the assets in order to counter the enemy.
So the newbs have to practice sometime, and if prime time is the only time you have to play (might be why it is prime time after all, more people able to play...), does that mean you shouldn't be allowed to practice on the server you prefer to play on. Are we saying that if you have yet to master an aspect of the game, then you need to fuck off from TTP until you learn? Where do you draw the line?
While it is probably frustrating for you air guys to be grounded, I'm tempted to say "suck it up, and find a way to win". We don't have lines for assets, and we sure as hell don't have a list of who's allowed to fly and who's not allowed. This is another case where you just have to find a way to win. "Give me the jet" is just as much of a cop out as "move some pilots over to our side". Just fucking deal with it.
I'm also tempted to tell the newbs to hog the assets all the damn time, because it is sure refreshing to see (2)Manno and Xav bitching about being raped from the sky...For when the One Great Scorer comes, to write against your name, he writes not that you won or lost, but how you played the Game

I would like to hear from someone who can watch the game at a turn, and see if the autobalance actually takes a minute to kick in. My guess is that it is immediate.

Autobalance takes a minute or 2 to kick in. If you watch the beginning of a round you will see 30v26 or some such, and it will take the time for people to spawn in and die before it switches them. Usually if the server was full and 4 people from Team A drop 4 new people will fill the slot before Autobalance moves 4 people from Team B.

Re: I have never been...
Manno is right about utilizing assets. Thats a major game turner. I think one of the issues with "practicing" during prime time hours is that these new guys who are "practicing" might get tired of taking the jet up if there are good pilots on the other team. There were 5 or 6 maps yesterday where my team would not take the second jet up or leave the attack helo on the deck of the carrier or at the airfield. This is when the other team just comes along and steals it pretty easily. Hell, I had to get the commander to broadcast out to the team to take the assets and use them. Then there are times when you have a squad in your base taking everything. Most people who have been around for a while will do all they can to not let the other team steal assets, others just spawn somewhere else and don't worry about it.
If you start a round with an important asset, stick with it till the end of the round.
I will say that a couple of times, people have given up the assets in order for a more experienced person to use it. I litterly had one guy drive the jet up to me and jump out hollaring at me to take it. I wasn't trying to get it or wanting to take it. It was pretty damn funny.
Someone said it earlier, but it takes good team balance to win. Your team has to have good pilots, good SL, good commander, and good ground pounders. When all those things line up, you team is STACKED.. haha :10
