Make sure your mic is working in Vista, before trying to get it to work in BF2. My headset (Logitech) was detected, but initially I could not get it to work, no sound or mic. I went into the Control Panel, and set the headset to default for playing back, and recording, and now it works. When unpluged, my speakers are defaulted to.

I would imagine this is a common problem, but it took me a while to figure it out on my own because I could find no information on the subject.

There are always two reasons as to why my mic isnt working. The first is that I use Realktek sound manager or something like that and i need to unplug the mic and put it back in so realtek can do its jack sensing. The other is that ive been messing with the sound settings in control panel and they have to be reset for everything to work proprly again.

yea it works if something is plugged into the mic jack.......but soon as i unplug it then the "Audio" settings all go back to "0"

kinda odd i think..... i didn't use a mic with my old laptop and VOIP worked fine...

just gonna play around with the settings for a while
