    1) Number of factors here including not-so-great BF2 hit detection. More experienced players know how BF2 works and adjust their game accordingly (i.e., there are things you can do movement wise that will appear to make one unhittable). Also, many weapons have a damage factor of 34 or greater. That coupled with a 3X factor for head shots results in 1 shot kills for headshots with those weapons. Submachineguns, some carbines and all pistols have damage less than 34 so it takes more than 1 shot at full health even if it is a headshot. Sometimes, it's just lag.

    3) Two things...utilizing cover, aim and knowing where to shoot. Take a look at the secrets of battlefield site here. As was mentioned, the front or back of the treads is the sweet spot. http://www.secretsofbattlefield.com/hitpoints.php
