Re: Any suggestions for Future Versions.
Hmmmm waypoints. Thanks for bringing that up! I never thought of it but now that I have, why the heck hasnt there been the ability for a Commander to assign multiple waypoints to a squad?! And lets have those waypoints visible to all squadleaders, so they will be able to have a good understanding of what the Commander plans for them to do, as well as the bigger picture.

Indeed. Being able to see orders issued to other squads would greatly assist with the general breakdown that occurs when one squad decides to neglect orders and go off to do its own thing.
Oh, and just so y'all are aware... the briefing from the PR monthly match in may is still forthcoming, I've just been stupidly busy with work.

Re: Any suggestions for Future Versions.
I had another Idea while riding in a huey earlier today In chopper coms. What I mean by this is anyone who rides together in the chopper has voip with everyone in that chopper along with their squad in order to communicate where they need to be inserted or extracted to this would make the teamplay more realistic allowing everyone to talk. In addition to this I would also like to see a pilot chat allowing choopers to coordinate with the commander and other choppers when not in the same squad

Re: Any suggestions for Future Versions.
This thread is a lot less intimidating than the official one at realitymod.org
1) Remove splash damage from the HAT - that will significantly limit HAT sniping and still stay true enough to the actual munitions. I think they're really sabot-like charges that shoot a column of molten metal through armor - I'm not sure what would happen if one hit the ground 10 feet from me, but I expect the molten metal would just go into the ground, not explode in an enormous fireball. Military hardware wonks please correct me.
2) Use the blurry black and white shader effect while laying on the ground critically wounded. You can already tell if there are enemies around by listening with the black screen, so the blank screen doesn't limit you that much more than just seeing the sky. You could add in a ringing in your ears (like the flashbang) so you couldn't aurally locate enemies. Plus, it's really cool to the see the medic over you charging the paddles.
3) I second Draco's point -- please use restraint in making enormous maps. We know the engine can handle it, but they make for some very long runs.
4) Allow 2 riflemen AT per squad. This way you can have a coordinated strike on an APC to take it out or give a tank a bit of a worry.
I also like the idea of some more infantry-centered maps. Operation Archer was a good step in that direction - it just needs to be polished some more.
Indirect fire would be quite cool -- they had it well implemented in BF 1942. Maybe that system is still extant in the BF2 engine
Keep up the good work

Re: Any suggestions for Future Versions.
I had some epiphanies while repriming the server after it crashed tonight.
Include the Training mode/maps with the standard PR install (they're only ~4MB anyway).
Create (or call for the creation of) maps designed specifically for training purposes (ie, one could be a tank obstacle course, another could be about deploying commander assets, so has lots of trucks and example hills/locations, another about squad movement and tactics, another about being a medic with lots of dead and dying, another about jets, taxiing, flying, landing, etc).
Make reading the manual and taking the training courses mandatory. Maybe offer the core files and the training maps initially, and use some kind of code or hash that can be viewed on a sign at the end of the course while on the maps along with some nice website coding to restrict access to the levels files.
I cannot begin to tell you how many RTFM moments I have personally had, with people doing stupid things and wasting valuable assets, trying to learn how to fly on the public server, not knowing how to operate equipment, request kits, work as a squad, or even bloody talk to one another. If access is restricted this way, there is no plausible deniability; no one is a nublet, no one has the excuse that they're new to ABC or XYZ, "lol".
There is an enormous, obvious, marked and properly barricaded line between not having experience but giving an honest effort, and just wasting everyone's time with impudence, and I think the best improvement the mod can make is beating the stupid out of the general population.
